Guest guest
I don't see the logic. Suddenly the rabbit is afraid of Eye but, the rabbit must take care of itself. If Eye did everything for him, he'd have no life. beth sullivan <dksunglsses@...> wrote: Because he was cursed to by the witch, he accepted her help and then turned his back on her instead of facing his fears, so she condemed him to facing his fears. Guest guest
Eye did not do everything for Rabbit all the time. She helped him at a time when he needed help. In return for her help, Rabbit shunned her, claiming to be afraid of her because she gifted him with things he had needed at the time. She gave him a hand-up not a hand-out so to speak. And even though Rabbit had hurt Eye by turning his back on her, Eye -- who had the power to destroy Rabbit -- did not hurt Rabbit. Instead the curse was one Rabbit had brought on himself and Eye merely facilitated the path of this curse. Now Rabbit, out of fear, calls attention to himself with false bravado only to see his fears bring about his downfall. This is what Rabbit has done to himself by dishonouring his friendship with Eye . The moral of this tale is to be true to what you know to be true about yourself and about those around you. Above all else, do no harm to any living thing. Rabbit harmed Eye . And because the universe must remain in balance, Rabbit must pay for the imbalance Rabbit alone created. Think about your own life, drumthis2001. Has there not been Eye s in your life who have helped you along your path? Do you dishonour these friendships as Rabbit did with Eye or do you honour them with gratitude and paying forward the goodness gifted to you? Guest guest
Interesting story. It also seems to ring a bell - my grandad used to tell me many stories as a child and this one sounds familiar - it may not be exactly like the one I heard, but certainly similar. > > A long time ago, Rabbit and Eye , a witch, were friends. Guest guest
I'm sure it's happened to me somewhere along the line. There have been people who have tried to help me. I've turned down those whom I didn't trust. There was a friend of mine whose mother had ovarian cancer and I didn't speak to them after I heard about that happening. I was 12 at the time and had considered him my best friend til that point but, I was afraid because his mother had cancer so I haven't talked to him since. I don't know if that counts. ravenmagic2003 <ravenmagic2003@...> wrote: Eye did not do everything for Rabbit all the time. She helped him at a time when he needed help. Guest guest
The nice thing about spirituality and the stories that teach is that it gives one reason to reflect on their actions and set things in balance again. Guest guest
Absolutely, Rainbow, but remember these are not my stories. They are stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. I know that you are keenly interested in Aboriginal culture as well as other cultures. Maybe you could post stories you've come across over the years that would complement the ones I know? Raven > > > Raven: " You're very welcome, Rainbow. Guest guest
> Raven: "Absolutely, Rainbow, but remember these are not my stories. They are stories that have been passed down from generation to generation."Yes, but they are concentrated wisdom, no fluff, presented simply, in a way that even a young child can understand.> "I know that you are keenly interested in Aboriginal culture as well as other cultures. Maybe you could post stories you've come across over the years that would complement the ones I know?"What I am interested in is this: how can we survive? How can we stop the insanity we have towards our mother, Gaia: http://www.oceansonline.com/gaiaho.htmI'll do my best to recall, and share........Near to here is a meadow that resonates in sadness remembering a time when the last ofpeople were massacred for refusing to be 'saved' and compelled to wear smallpox infested 'christian' clothing, just above the northern most and last of the long string of Spanish 'missions' built to thwart the challange of Russian traders coming down our coast. It grieves me to know that great learning and wisdom were lost. We lost a peaceful acorn culture that gardened the land with grace and dignity. I knew the very last native who lived here, since a small boy, in what was originally called by the State of California, "Home for Idiots, Morons, and Indians"If we could just learn to live with nature.... we'd have hope for a tomorrow!  Rainbow
