Guest guest
Hi, I have a quick question. My six year old son is fairly verbal, however, we have noticed that he speak much more when he is engaged in some pretend play, or speaking of his wife ( I have no idea when he got married :0) ) he speaks of her often. I find that when we are doing some exercises like trying to get him to use postional words (on top of... under the.... ) we have to fully prompt the whole sentence. I will have to say something like Where did you find the frog? Then I wait to see if he will respond if he does not w/in 10 senconds or so I will begin to prompt.. The frog was on _____ (trying to get him to atleast put the position word in) of the chair. Normally, he won't even fill this in. Is there a difference in skills when one is speaking from ones head like in a play situation and when one is answering a question? Brentton does have oral/verbal apraxia. Would this be a contributing factor to his inability to answer questions w/o tons of prompting? Hope someone can help us w/ this ??? Thanks, Stacie
