Guest guest
okay-I am at a real loss as to what to do. Maddie came down with some type of viral gastro bug last Wednesday night-power puking-and then high fever-and then loose bowels-for her as close as she ahs ever been to diarrhea-the throwing up stopped-but she continues with the fever for several days-did the er this weekend as her asthma and stomach pain were out of control. We have been dealing with pretty bad asthma since we went back to school ths year-and have done several rounds of steroids. So here is my quandary-she is still running a low grade fever-and has the energy to do NOTHING-she is sleeping almost all day and still not eating-but is drinking some. She has been at my parents so that I could go to work this week-our school system is very short of subs and we also had a field trip this week-and my mom calls me tonight and tells me that she thinks Maddie is swollen all over-she said that she thought that Maddie should be loosing a little weight as she is not eating-but my mom said her whole body appears puffy- I have repeatedly called our pediatrician-and he has not felt he needs to see her. We do see our gastro on Monday-and I am going to get copies of all of the lab work run at the er-but I am really concerned and no one seems to be listening. She does not move off the couch and called me crying to come home. I have to work tomorrow-but am taking Friday off-no matter what they say at school-I have enough of the mommy guilts right now to float a whole fleet of ships-she also has a red rash across her face and says her tummy and legs hurt- Any suggestions? Becky in IN-mom to Maddie, age 8.5 (almost 9-I can not believe it), IgA def, gerd, asthma, mild cp, high cholesterol, hyperglycemic... Guest guest
So has the ped refused to see her or just reassured you that he probably doesn't need to see her? Unless he's refused I would get an appointment for Friday and have the symptoms seen to and documented. The Monday is a long way away and the " what if's " would drive me crazy. Guest guest
I found this at www.wrongdianosis.com " GIARDIASIS (Protozoan Diarrhea) Chronic, intermittent diarrhea, bloating, foul-smelling stools and fatigue and weight loss. Sometimes observable symptoms are not present. " One thing that was mentioned on the website is that any symptom of generalized bloating or swelling should be checked out medically right away. You may want to go and look at her for yourself to determine whether or not she should wait til Monday to go in. Sometimes grandparents can over-react, but you are with her more often than grandma is, so you probably would have a better idea about whether or not it is serious. If your gut is telling you to make a stink until she is looked at seriously, do it. Be sure and take the IDF # for physicians treating a PID with you if you have to make another trip to ER. Let us know how she is. God bless, Wenoka Question from Becky in IN okay-I am at a real loss as to what to do.
