Guest guest
From our point of view after infusing for 6 years we've been able to safely infuse at least 3 different brands. The pharmacy on the floor at our infusion center knows which brand Macey does best with and does their best to keep that brand. The safety net was a wonderful resource back during the shortage when there was NO IVIG available. Not even a single brand. We've enjoyed the peace of mind knowing that she has 2 other brands to fall back on and can get if there is a problem getting hers. Each child is different and reacts or doesn't react to the various brands. What one child may thrive on another may react and suffer from. I'd have to take into consideration the degree of the reaction as opposed to not getting infused at all because of a certain brand being given. Macey only has one brand she's not allowed to get and that's due to an anaphylactic reaction. We've tried most of the others over the years (due to using 5 different clinics in 2 different states) and haven't had another reaction that turned us from infusion of a certain product. Sure we know what works best with her and we try our hardest to get that each month (call the infusion clinic the week before to remind them, have the pharmacy manager talk to us about every 3 months or so just to keep our case fresh in their minds, have the doctor write for a specific brand).
