Dear Deb,

I extended the invitation to Joe to join. Thank you. I did read the posts from yesterday and have moved them to my "TO Keep folder" (there is so much stuff in there from this group) hehehe! But I go to it when I have a question.

Jon is such a sweetheart! I am meeting SO many good hearted people in here!!! To let me know things about what I am facing and what to expect and to lend an ear to. Thank you all so much.

Deb, you make everything seem so much "livable" if I am making sense. Just to explain things to me, with love and compassion. Thank you so much. I honestly understand what you are saying about...

..how much info a member wants to know or is ready to know and handle at any given time and how much has already been explained to them by their Dr's.

I think Joe doesn't tell me EVERYTHING for a few reasons, maybe he is afraid I will leave him, maybe he doesn't want me to think of him as lesser of a "man", maybe he is really worried that it will affect "my" well being. (he hates to think that anything should hurt me emotionally like my children or my ex husband etc.)

I bought a book on "hepatitis C diet" Most of which we already do.

I do APPRECIATE so much your wisdom on all that I talk about. It means a lot to me!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

GOD BLESS YOU, DEB!!!!

love and hugs,

Ali

Hi Ali and Joe :)

Honey I'm sorry I didn't realize or remember that Joe was in ESLD.

Joe has an open invitation to join us in group if he is ready and wants to. :)

I just posted yesterday info on ESLD and Cirrhosis Stages.

Many times once a person reaches stage 4 - cirrhosis stages - ESLD biopsy's are no longer needed unless to check for or rule out certain things going on not picked-up by other tests or done if a person is stable enough for it and for treatment meds.

You met Jon. He is a sweetheart and a great guy and friend to know for honest - down to earth - straight forward support and info. He just pretends to be a hard ass and I love to tease him.

I'm not familiar with HCV medical care through the VA and Jon and Dick can help you better with that.

It is also very hard, stressful and overwhelming for you too.

We are here to support both of you.

It's hard only being online to know the particulars of situations and relationships and if a loved one is going to be a primary care giver or not or the wishes of the person with HCV.

It's even harder on us when late stages are involved not knowing how much info a member wants to know or is ready to know and handle at any given time and how much has already been explained to them by their Dr's.

We share our personal experiences and info to offer our friendship and support. With so much info to know and understand about HCV it takes all of our combined efforts to stay on top of things to support and help each other all along the way.

You did mention diuretics and a high bilirubin count.

If Joe is on diuretics than he is having problems with fluid retention that many of us have also gone through in his stage. Proper diet for ESLD does help along with other Rx's.

A high bilirubin count does indicate the possibility of certain complications and processes going on.

Adults and children: Doctors may order bilirubin tests (along with other liver enzyme tests, especially when jaundice is present) to determine if liver damage exists. Bilirubin levels can be used to monitor the progression of jaundice and to determine if it is the result of red blood cell breakdown or liver disease. This can be done by measuring two different chemical forms of bilirubin—direct (or conjugated) and indirect (or unconjugated) bilirubin. If the direct bilirubin is elevated there may be some kind of blockage of the liver or bile duct, perhaps due to gallstones, hepatitis, trauma, a drug reaction, or long-term alcohol abuse. If the indirect bilirubin is increased, hemolysis (undesirable breakdown of red blood cells) may be the cause.

Hang In There.

We Do Care.

Love and Hugs.

Take Care and God Bless.

Deb
