Guest guest
Davin drama.... Over a month ago we noticed drainage from his left ear. His nose was runny but always is so we thought little about it. We began augmentin es and ciprodex drops. They didn't work at all, so immuno started him on ciproflaxin abx for 1 month and had us discontinue the ear drops. We have been on cipro for 14 days now and his ear infection has not only NOT resolved a bit but has actually gotten worse. He still has the sinus infection as well. For the last three days the odor of the ear infection has progressively gotten worse. It is visible pus now draining and his nose and breath are rank smelling. I called the immuno who is out of the office for a week so I was redirected to ped. They said to continue the cipro like we are supposed to(I didn't plan to stop it) and prescribed floxin ear drops. He is sneezing and has pus coming out of his nose. I am telling you, I have never smelled anything so nasty. The ped's nurse said that the infection must be throughout his sinus cavity, throat and ear. She said that we need to be careful of him and watch for signs of meningitis. OK, now that has me freaked. He doesn't run a fever often so I don't know what to watch for. I had meningitis in 2001 but it was viral. He has a bacterial infection, so would the signs be the same or different. I don't believe he has meningitis, but wouldn't you think someone would want to see him? Help?! Care
