Guest guest
Hello everyone! I haven't posted in a while life here is very demanding as I'm sure you all can relate but I wanted to give a little update on Kody. I'll start with our good news. Kody is finally learning! He can do some word decoding now and can read with help level 4 books (yeah I know that is kindergarten books, but he couldn't do that a couple weeks ago so this is a HUGE deal!) and he can add and subtract numbers, single digits from 1-10. He can tell greater than and less than and he's starting to be able to tell time!! And he had a speaking part in his Christmas program last night that he delivered perfectly! So we are a bit excited! Our bad news is that he is still getting too many infections, the immuno did a trough level that came back at 755 and then he ordered more bloodwork this last IVIG which was last Saturday. I have no idea what that one is for, but he had a CT scan in between the two IVIG treatments too so maybe the bloodwork is in response to that. Would he order trough levels so close together? I'll call this week to find out. Also in the bad news category, Kody was diagnosed with sensory integration disorder (which I hear is now being called sensory processing disorder) this week. We've always known he had sensory " issues " , and we've done the test for that before and he came back only mild in a couple areas. Now he's " definite difference " in all areas except one! Yikes. So it's being discussed to try him on risperdal (sp?). The thought is he may be so distracted by his environment that it is impacting his learning? Also it's impacting our lives because I can't take him places like the mall for example, and sometimes even being at home is too much for him and he'll just fall apart (usually when we have a full house of kids or it's a holiday). Does anyone have experience with risperdal for use with sensory processing disorder?
