parkinson's and statins

Hi Rhonda, I also know my husband's Parkinsonism is due to statins--

at NO time will he ever return to that class of drugs. I am convinced

3 other friends/acquaintances Parkinson's diagnoses are due to

Lipitor, also. and yes, low thyroid DOES potentiate problems with

statins, so your mom is doubly at risk for adverse effects from

statins. have you tried cinnamon for the triglycerides? are they

taking Fish Oil Omega 3 capsules (can take a # of those/day with no

side effects). and Niacin increases HDL--are your parents able to

take niacin without the flushing side effects? there are preparations

that are effective niacin products that do not include flushing--i do

not remember the names of them at present--anyone else able to help

with that? you can research all these things I have mentioned to

determine if you think they have any utility for your parents. best
