Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, I also know my husband's Parkinsonism is due to statins-- at NO time will he ever return to that class of drugs. I am convinced 3 other friends/acquaintances Parkinson's diagnoses are due to Lipitor, also. and yes, low thyroid DOES potentiate problems with statins, so your mom is doubly at risk for adverse effects from statins. have you tried cinnamon for the triglycerides? are they taking Fish Oil Omega 3 capsules (can take a # of those/day with no side effects). and Niacin increases HDL--are your parents able to take niacin without the flushing side effects? there are preparations that are effective niacin products that do not include flushing--i do not remember the names of them at present--anyone else able to help with that? you can research all these things I have mentioned to determine if you think they have any utility for your parents. best of luck
