Copperfield - an Aspie?

I just saw a documentary about outlandish magician Copperfield and

suddenly started wondering if he might not be an Aspie too (of the more

active & intense ADHD-type).

A few weeks ago an Aspie from our Swedish forums said that he used to think

that all Aspies were introvert computer geeks, but that he has subsequently

realized that this is far from the case. He said an Aspie can have ANY

profession, but what will be typical is the drive for excellence and

originality in one's chosen field. Copperfield sure has all of that,

and more!

What struck me as Aspie about him was:

- His strikingly odd features, eternally youthful look and skinniness

(looking more like an Elf than a human).

- His relative shyness, despite loving to entertain and be on stage.

- His extreme perfectionism, perseverance and singleminded focus on his

work.

- His limitless imagination and outside-the-box thinking, being a pioneer in

his way of combining magic with dashing performance, daring Houdini-tricks

and lavish Vegas style show with sexy music, dance and costumes. (Hm, makes

me wonder about Liberace as well..)

- His drive to do the impossible. Over and over again.

But I'm also annoyed that I can't figure out how it's done. How can you make

the Statue of Liberty appear to disappear??? I hate mysteries! :-(
