Guest guest
I don’t know if this will help anyone, but it’s worth a shot. My mother was on Lipitor for 3 years when she started having muscle problems. At her worst, she could not even get up from a significantly raised toilet seat and when she did walk, it was with a walker (she is only 63). She saw a rheumatologist who diagnosed her with Polymyocitis (I still question the diagnosis, but o.k.). Her doctor suggested IVIG treatment. She has had 2 treatments and she can now get up from a regular chair (she was using a lift chair), can climb 1 – 2 stairs, and once we lower her bed, she may be able to get into bed by herself. If not, that is coming soon. Her doctor told her that she would have 1 treatment a month for 4-6 months. She can’t wait for the next one. This doctor had another patient she thought would never walk again. After 4 treatments, he is back doing construction. I don’t know if this will work for any of you, and it is quite expensive. Even with her insurance, I think it cost her about $1,000 – $2, 000 each treatment. To her, it was worth it to get her life back. I just thought I’d share on the off chance I can help even one person who suffers from this awful problem. Cathi Cochran
