Guest guest
We have used Cleocin before and had horrible diarrhea and cramping with it. does eat yogurt so we kept with that but they also told us to remove all juice or acidic food out of his diet. What does Davin take for milk? Nick was on Neocate and just switched over to almond milk. Nick is on augmentin right now an it is more worse for him than the cleocin was. We just had to take a diaper in to the hospital and have it tested for blood, negative, thank God. Amy, mom to: , 21 months old. CVID, MSPI, GERD, Asthma.. On claritin, flovent, xopenex, and IVIG sub Q every two weeks (Carimune NF) visit Nick's website: http://www3.caringbridge.org/ne/nicholasb/<http://www3.caringbridge.org/ne/nicho\ lasb/> Any advice on acidopholus Has anyone used clindamycin or Cleocin and what effects can be expected. Is it necessary to use some type of replacement and what ideas are there on what to use.
Guest guest
Davin is on Neocate 1plus because of his allergy to milk. We give him periodically about 4 ounces of milk(direct) to see how he tolerates it. Depending on his current health, he either reacts immediately or it is delayed. We started the Cleocin the night before last and he hasn't had a bowel movement yet. He sometimes does this where it builds up and then has diarrhea for a week. The cipro he is also on gives him diarrhea and we gave him immodium for it. He can't take the immodium with the cleocin so we are very worried that he will be ill. I know his tummy has been bothering him because he is having trouble sleeping and cries about his " tummy huwt " yesterday. He is still sleeping now which is extremely odd for him. I am now second guessing my decision to continue the abx out of the hospital. If he is still hurting and if he gets the diarrhea I am going to let them admit him. Guest guest
Care - I have 2 types of acidophilus I use with my kids who are prone to horrible yeast /thrush infections: Natural Factors Children's Acidophilus with strawberry flavor (this one is a powder, that I can put in a drink or something soft like apple sauce). It specifically says a NON DAIRY PRODUCT. I got this from a local health and wellness center. The next one I got from Whole Foods Market - and they are chewable RHINO FOS AND ACIDOPHILUS They do not say anything about dairy any where on the bottle - none of the ingredients are dairy. Their website is www.nutritionnow.com Good luck. Dayna Charlie, Kate and Tommy all PID This forum is open to parents and caregivers of children diagnosed with a Primary Immune Deficiency. Guest guest
You can get plain acidophilus tablets from a health food store or the vitamin aisle at your drugstore or grocery store, there is also an acidophilus powder. I don't think they have any milk involved in them unless the acidophilus is used in yogurt. But check with the doctor first to be sure it is ok to use this. It has a nasty, powdery taste to it and a capsule might be hard for a little one to swallow but perhaps you can mix it into some breakfast cereal or juice or something? Check with the doctor, because the cultures need to be live in order to get the effect you want. What about echinacea? Will that help? There is echinacea tea.... I am not sure if I've helped. I hope I did. /Dayann > > Since Davin is taking this cleocin, the pharmacy and doctor encouraged > us to use an acidolpholus or lactinex to replace the good bacteria in > his tummy and intestines.
