Guest guest
I am glad you liked it Marty. There are several articles written by this doctor on that webpage http://www.thincs.org/Malcolm.htm#hypertens1 ; some about cholesterol . [ " STATINS FOR CHILDREN – THIS IS MADNESS" - The first thing that I have to point out here is that, in primary prevention trials, statins have never been found to reduce the risk of death. ] And many more good ones by others at that site. http://www.thincs.org/index.htm I found the link to this organization "The International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics" or 'THINCS' on Fran's statin website http://www.freewebs.com/stopped_our_statins/ But this is one of my favourite articles about statins and cholesterol Dangers of Statin Drugs What You Haven't Been Told About Popular Cholesterol Lowering Medicines - By Sally Fallon & G. Enig, PhD ~ Feeling good is actually a symptom of high cholesterol! "Hypercholesterolemia is the health issue of the 21st century. It is actually an invented disease, a "problem" that emerged when health professionals learned how to measure cholesterol levels in the blood." [Weston A Price Foundation] Dated: Spring 2004 This is very good - takes you through the statin studies, as well as the side-effects and more. Chart & references. Alternatives & eating plan. http://www.westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/statin.html That is a good site too for learning how to improve ones' immune system and help the body to heal itself, which I need. But I also needed to understand exactly what cholesterol is and what it is used by the body for if I was going to be able to truly not be concerned about high cholesterol. This article helped me a lot. Understanding Cholesterol Let's clear up the confusion over cholesterol. Cholesterol is so important that it is produced in your body in 2 specific ways. Doctors have determined that having the proper ratio between HDL and LDL is a more important predictor of health than the level of total cholesterol. Now we know that low fat, low cholesterol diets result in lower overall cholesterol but low fat diets also cause the good HDL cholesterol to drop too low, and when HDL is too low the risk of disease increases. There is a significant and growing amount of research that shows that cholesterol does not cause heart disease and the dietary consumption of foods containing cholesterol has only a minor effect in determining total cholesterol levels. When you begin eating in a way that avoids the production of excess insulin and puts glucagon in the metabolic driver's seat, your blood cholesterol level will fall effortlessly and you will realize that in the bigger picture, dietary cholesterol consumption is essentially a non-issue. http://www.totalhealthdynamics.com/cholesterol.htm blessings Shan Re: HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: IT' A SYMPTOM, NOT A DISEASE, STUPID! Guest guest
Shan -- The links in your posting are wonderful. They are way more convincing to me than anything I have read that supports the use of statins to control cholesterol. Every prescribing doctor should be challenged to explain away the claims and logic in the articles at the end of those links. If the doctors can't argue intelligently against the claims, it is reasonable to accept the claims simply based on common sense. The only problem with the articles are that they are somewhat dense and long -- but that should not rule them out as being correct. It would be difficult to cover this subject with less words. Guest guest
I couldn't find anything shorter that didn't leave so many holes in its information as to be useless. So decided long but complete was better in the long run, so to speak. It has been quite a challenge to try to describe the articles in as few words as possible when I was putting them in the Group Files and Links in my health group. I never was any good at that in school even. blessings Shan > > > > > > I am glad you liked it Marty.
