welcome, doc--

Be prepared to question some of the things that " everybody knows " about

cholesterol and statin drugs. Review the research and read the fine

print--and look at actual mortality rates, not just heart symptoms,

especially among women.

I have several friends who have the same symptoms that I had and also

most members of this group--severe muscle pain and memory glitches. The

side effect rate is much higher than most doctors realize because most

of them disregard their patients' reports and the infomation never gets

into the statistics.

Check out the group archives and also " www.spacedoc.net " .

Welcome doctor

We have a new member who joined tonight and here was his

request statement to join our little group.

Would anyone like to welcome the dr. with symptoms they

are experiencing on their statin after reading his statement?

Welcome again doc... very glad to have you here and you

may wish, at some point down the road, to recommend others

from your practice to join this group if they also suffer

from symptoms that many drs. do not believe can be brought

on by statins.

Here is what the dr. stated in his join request.

" I am a physician. I started on Crestor about 9 months ago. Now I am

having myalgias (and am stopping the drug for now). Want to see

others' expreiences. "

Hello, I have been on Crestor for 3 months now with excellent results. My physician cautioned me about possible long term side effects and reccommended CQ-10 and Lycopane as nutritional supplemementsEd Gundy <edgundy@...> wrote: We have a new member who joined tonight and here was his request statement to join our little group. That was my experience with Crestor also. With only 5mg/day, I started getting

strange pains in my right forearm and elbow area. After another month, I noticed

the identical pain progressing in my left arm. And that's when I quit the

Crestor. It took three months for those pains to subside. Nasty stuff.

wow... a dr. actually suggested CoQ10? That is amazing, most

people who I have heard from who states to their doctor that they

are going to take CoQ10 the dr. either looks at them with a

blank face, for they have never heard of it, or...the dr. will

say to them " you are just wasting your money. "

Your dr. is a keeper!!!

I was on and off (mostly on) some kind of statin for five or six years. I didn't much care for them but tolerated the slight weakness and little aches

pains. Every time I would complain to my doctor about the pain he would switch me to another.

Then came Crestor... CRESTOR KICKED MY ASS!

Pain, neuropathy, depression, disconnected, SUPER dry skin, dry eyes... Bla, Bla, Bla...

Just look back at all the posts in this group and you'll see, you may even find something you have/had and didn't associate with statins.

If you ask me, Crestor killed my thyroid too. Looks like a lifetime of Snythroid for me.

Welcome doctor

My mother, age 67 was prescribed Zocor last June. She immediately

began having burning and aching in her feet. Since she has mild

artritis and was on her feet more since it was summertime, she

ignored the symptoms thinking it was arthritis. This was a critical

mistake on her part as her symptoms were early signs of peripheral

neuropathy. In less than 6 weeks she could barely walk. We

insisted she see the doctor after she told us that she had to crawl

into the house after grocery shopping one day.

Her MD immediately suspected the new drug added about the time the

symptoms began...Zocor. She advised her to stop taking it and see

if her symptoms improved. When she was no better in 2 weeks, doc

said guess it wasn't the Zocor - but just in case, I'm switching you

to Lipitor.

We had begun researching the statin drugs by that time and there is

not a single member of my family who would ever swallow another one

of those pills.

1 1/2 yrs later, my mother is much better but periodically has

spells with her feet. She often takes sleep aids as her problems

(painful and burning feet) occur most often after going to bed.

When a coworker of mine suddenly started having problems with his

numbness and burning in his hands and feet - I mentioned that it

sounded similar to the problems my mother was having. I explained

her history to him and he immediately said that his doc had just

increased his Lipitor from 10mg to 40mg. He said he would mention

it at his next appt. He didn't make it that long. Within 2 weeks,

this architect could not hold his pencil. As soon as he stopped the

Lipitor, his symptoms got better.

This POISON needs to be monitored much more closely. Guess most

MD's don't care - think of all the extra doctor visits due to

illness directly related to taking statin drugs. Makes me sick.

Dear Group, I do have a question, I have a friend her husband and his sister bothtook Lipitor for I don't really know how long ( in Months ) anyway he has had all the problems we all have had with this drug, but he is or has had a nervous break down, anyone else had this happen or heard about it. I have tried to get his wife to join so she may see what is going on, have sent her some of our postings so they may read them... he won't leave her side. Another thing he has not had a heart attack, the dr, just thought that his cholesterol was to high ( hahaha) so give the lipitor. Any ideas please help his wife..... She now thinks she is going nuts with the way he is acting.thanks group....JudyinMOWe have a new member who joined tonight and here was his request statement to join our little group.Would anyone like to welcome the dr. with symptoms theyare experiencing on their statin after reading his statement?Welcome again doc... very glad to have you here and you may wish, at some point down the road, to recommend othersfrom your practice to join this group if they also sufferfrom symptoms that many drs. do not believe can be broughton by statins. I can see how someone may have a "nervous breakdown", I thought I was going nuts.

I was weak in body, mind and spirit and was sure I was dieing from some terrible disease.

I could not concentrate and was having trouble doing simple things I have done all my life.

I was even thinking about who I would get my stuff to when I was gone.

Not suicide... ALS

As for the Dr taking crestor, could he please answer the following questions? 1) How many of your patients (percentage wise) who are no crestor have problems? 2) Why do you give Crestor as opposed to lipitor or zocor? 3) Do you see an actual reduction in heart disease with these drugs?

You could google " beatrice golomb MD " she has written about reported

mental and behavioral symptoms in statin users. cholesterol is a

major component of the brain--25% of the body's total cholesterol is

found in the brain. Also, read Dr. Graveline's web site:

http://www.spacedoc.net

(He was an astronaut--hence the " space " )

Hi Jan,

I took Lipitor for maybe several months after an acute MI and I couldn't

walk from the beginning. Legs just ached and then my hips and back

would start to hurt. I got to the point where I didn't want to shop anymore.

That wasn't the case before my heart attack. I went off and I still have

some of the same problems but it's perhaps better. I don't know if I

can blame my memory problems or depression on that, as too many

different drugs that cause memory loss plus the cardiac arrest.

Have any Dr's come on here and disputed anything about statins or

do they ever agree?

Lor

I have been wondering about this new doctor that has

recently joined our group...I don't believe we have

heard a word from him since joining. Doctors who have

joined our group in the past have a track record of

not staying long and I wonder why! Guilt maybe for

forcing this poison on so many of us?

I have been off Lipitor now for so many years but it

continues to remain a big negative part of my life.

Not a day goes by that I don't wish that I had never

taken it. Living daily with pain and discomfort is no

joke...not being comfortable in your own body was a

high price to pay.

Recently I had gallbladder surgery...during pre-op

they asked if I had allergies...I said no except for

Lipitor...well they put a special ID bracelet on me

that said I was allergic to Lipitor...I thought it was

silly knowing they would not be giving me statin drugs

during surgery but it caused a few interesting

conversations with the nurses, anesthesiologists and

surgeons...the nurses were concerned about my problems

and the doctors laughed about it acting like they had

never heard of such a thing....like I was the first

person they had heard of with problems from the drug.
