We go a day either way. That is the advantage of SubQ, we control it, not the

disease controlling us!

Subject: question about sub-q

When we started Maddie's sub-q infusions in June, we had to start on Monday

because that was when home health could get here-

My question is-now that school has started it would be much easier to do the

infusion on Sunday evening-Mondays are very homework and activity heavy. We live

in a rural area and although sub-q is portable-what middle school girls wants to

go to a football game with all that stuff-and it is hard to find a place to take

it all out and be sanitary etc.

Would it cause a problem to switch to Sunday's? I have been swamped at work so

have not had time to check with our dr-but since Maddie was one of his first

that he actually prescribed sub-q for he does not always have the answers-

Thanks-Becky in IN-mom to Maddie-age 13, cvid, asthma, gerd......

You have a 3 day window on either side in which to infuse but once you

infuse it restarts the 7 day clock. So if you infuse on Mondays you could

infuse as early as Friday or as late as Wednesday and still be fine.

In the 5 years she has done it we've fudged several days in either direction.

Depends on her schedule. If something grueling is coming up or she's going to

holed up with a bunch of kids in a confined space (band bus to an away game)

then we'll bump it up and do it early. If she's off for the weekend with

friends and gets home and has a busy start to her week it might be midweek

before we infuse. Macey's most recent trough is 1109. I'm not saying everyone

has the leway that we have to do this but her levels are pretty established by

now that we know the signs of needing it early or being able to judge when she

can put it off.
