Guest guest
I took my son 3 yr old son off of Valtrex after about 8 months of use. He showed no regression after stopping. I let his body rest and gave him a 2 day high dose 225,000 iu vitamin A therapy as kind of a challenge to see how much virus was really left. I was really surprised to find that he had a rash! He had little white dots appear above his lip and a dime sized red sore on his inner thigh with little bumps in it. So I decided to start him on the valtrex yesterday. He had the rosy cheeks come back! His teacher commented on how calm and social he was. He also started saying 2 words together, Tonight he said Brown Bear Brown Brown Bear What do you see and named all of the animals in the book. It was a lttle hard to understand, but who cares? This was HUGE! He has has major apraxia type issues. I also need to mention that I have also increased his GABA and CCK supplementation. GABA is very much linked to speech so this might have something to do with the language gain From this, I think I've learned that if the virus is not completely supressed it can continue to build up or exist in the body after Valtrex is stopped even if a developmental regression isn't noticed. I decided to put him back on the valtrex to ensure that this virus is supressed. Stan- have you ever done a challenge dose after stopping valtrex? Do you do any type of maintenance dose of an anti-viral?
