Guest guest
Hi everyone, I havent posted in some time but Im always out here lurking. Ive learned recently I will likely be taking part in a Vertex drug trial beginning September. I dont know any details yet of just what I will be taking but obviously am looking carefully into it. Insurance isnt a problem for me, but , in this trial, all is paid for,, from biopsy to support drugs. So its a good opportunity. Im a relapser- was virus free at 6 weeks then a month after the 48 week period, I relapsed. Anyone els out there looking into t trial such as this? BTW this is in Bradenton, Florida. Take care all, Ann

Anyway, my new Dr, who runs a Hepatitis Center in Sarasota FL, is beginning trials with the new protease-inhibitor, Vertex and I MAY be a candidate. I am finding a happiness I thought I would never achieve again just KNOWING I may have a shot at getting cured. I have a followup in January to get a biopsy and see if I qualify .Just wanted to share that - I will start reading posts again - I had just gotten so depressed I stopped, but have always enjoyed all your knowledge and advice. Guest guest
Has your doctor done any work with patients on Infergen ? I was a non responder to the peg/riba but when I was on Infergen I was clear by week 12 unfortunately my heart started giving me grief and I had to go off treatment so the viral load went back up . But I hear if you can make it to the end the chances of relapse are really slim . Guest guest
THanks for the warm and welcome greeting - it IS good to be back. Regarding my Dr, yes, I feel fortunate to have been referred to him thru my gastro Dr. He is one of the leading Hep C researchers, you can look up Bach & Godofsky - google it. And yes, the Vertex is taken along with Peg-Intron or whatever interferon product is advised and yes ribivarin. As much as I dont wanna go thru it again, at least there is hope and, now that vertex is in its second phse of testing it sounds quite promising. I wish all of you the best you are all in my heart since we are all in this together Ann > Hello group, > > IT has been awhile since I have been in touch as I've been sort > of " put out to pasture " til new drugs arrived.
