Guest guest
Sorry for being Off-Topic, but I don't know where else to get this information from. My 5 yr. old HFA son has been doing ABA for the past nine months and has come a long way. Never had any other problems and never tried any other therapy. For the past 2 months or so, he's developed this weird skin rash...sort of very dry/white patches that tend to become very red at times, itchy at times. It started with one on his arm, that grew from a pea-size to almost 2 " in diameter now, there are a few other similar ones cropping up here and there. The worst is his face, which always used to be so smooth and soft, it's turned dry and rough and patchy. I tried all kinds of lotions, antibiotic creams, eliminating the use of soap etc. before taking him to the doctor, who gave me a list of food items that he might be allergic to. This list includes milk, chocolate, eggs and tomatoes, among other things that he doesn't eat anyway. He's always eaten the above items since he was little, can he all of a sudden become allergic to them? I've tried removing eggs and tomatoes from his diet too, with NO success. I could try eliminating chocolate too, but milk is a hard one! I'm wondering if it could be some kind of a fungal/yeast infection rather than an allergy and what should I do about it? Should I take him to a skin specialist? Please let me know if anyone has dealt with such a thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
