I personally would work the Valtrex therapy first (with an

antifungal) since you might not have to chelate with Valtrex (as in

my son's case).

I would do a 6 week trial with Valtrex and Diflucan or Nizoral and

then decide where to go from there.

That reminds me, I met two wonderful mom's from our parent group while

I was waiting on standby for flights to Autism One. I don't have their

information handy since I was seperated from my laptop (I'll get it

back later this week), but I learned a great deal from them and they

have a very unique angle on mud for detox that they may want to share.

Kim, Why does your DAN not want you to use valtrex and chelation? Perhaps he is concerned with his liver. Suggest Liver Life to help & perhaps do testing every other week. Many here have done both chelation & valtrex. If your DAN is being cautious to the point where your child is not getting the help he needs -- look for another DAN. If chelation is helping your child, continue. If chelation is not helping, then for now -- no need to continue it.Kim Authier Quinn <kimandglen.quinn@...> wrote: Hi All; Going to start valtrex trial on my daughter this Sunday. Our DAN doc does not want us to give valtrex and chelator at the same time - therefore give valtrex 11 days, off 3 days for chelator, start valtrex again for 11 days etc. I don't really like this idea. Does anyone have any feedback, or is anyone doing the same thing? I don't think we'll get the results we want if we have to stop and start the valtrex. Thanks, Kim.

Hi Abid;

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, my DAN doc is concerned about her liver as her enzymes have been slightly elevated for a over a year. However, the last 2 blood tests have indicated enzyme levels are in the normal range. We usually blood test every 4 weeks.

My DAN is a good doctor, and yes he is being cautious. I hear you about looking for another DAN however we live in Ontario - there aren't many to choose from - and we are having financial difficulties. Can't travel to get another doc.

Chelation is helping VERY slowly. I would like to continue chelating and add valtrex to the equation - without interrupting one treatment for another.

Kim.

Chronically high liver enzymes can be caused by a virus in the liver... which

happens more

than most people realize... so this could be a double edged story.

One of the wonderful things about Valtex is that it converts to acyclovir right

in the liver...

and since there can be viruses right there... it can work quite nicely.

Hi Kim,

Although I don't have any reports in doing it this way, It's not an absurd

concept really.

I personally would do it this way.

Valtrex and Diflucan or Nizoral or 40 days with no chelation (this is the longer

end of the

length of the healing-regression) and then decide if you want to alternate

between Valtrex

and the chelation agent.
