I will not go back over all that except to say that we got him back on Valtrex right away. His gut returned to normal. After a month, we increased to 1500mg (500mg TID) and he has been on this dose ever since. He also takes OLE, garlic, MB12 shots and spray, Folapro, Coenzyme B Complex, B5, Calcium Citrate with meals, digestive enzymes, E-Lyte Minerals, extra Magnesium. He has been on SCD & no IgG reactive foods for over 2 years. We are trying to keep an eye on oxalates. So it has now been about 6 months. We have not seen great gains or a rash or fever. This past month, however, he has been much worse behaviorally. We did not see improvement with his last dose of IV glutathione as we usually do. This time it made him loud and stimmy. In general, we are seeing increased visual stimming (fingers in face) and he has started looking cross-eyed. He is loud and yells a lot.My question is this: What is happening? Our DAN wants to up the Valtrex dose again. I have asked her via email if we can add an antifungal Rx as well. One other thing, Henry's FIGLU and MMA almost immediately became normal after 16 months on MB12 shots when we added in the spray every other day several months ago.By the way, Henry is definitely viral. His titers were very, very high on the Immunosciences panel.Mae Lynn Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Small Business. We have not done chelation per se (that is no DMSA, DMPS, etc.) but I agree with our DAN doc that what we are doing with the supps and the bi- weekly glutathione is assisting his body to better detoxify on its own. Many may not agree, but I am comfortable with this. We have not had his testosterone levels checked. Can you give me a quick overview of what I would do, and how it might change our approach if his levels are high? Thanks for your response. Guest guest
Its appropriate to check testosterone levels if you think your boy may have or is maturing too fast. Specifically, excess body hair, too much self play, adult body odor, sudden growth spurt etc. You need to tell the Pediatrician you suspect "precociuos puberty". To get an accurate reading on these tests, you need to stop certain ASD treatments for about 3 weeks -- like MB12, chelation etc. What is the significance of high testosterone? Traditional ASD treatments may not work if the body has high testosterone. Guest guest
Hi Mae Lynn, I don't see any mention of an antifungal here. I would try Diflucan or Nizoral asap. You really can't tell how well the antiviral therapy will work if you don't have an antifungal onboard. Unfortunately not all the docs know this yet and we are still fighting a bit of an uphill battle, but if your doc was at the last DAN! Think Tank we discussed how important an antifungal is in the antiviral protocol. You may also want to run another OATS test as well. Just my opinions. - Stan > > Listmates, > > I posted here back in March when I took my son (10, ASD) off Valtrex > after three months and we saw gut problems.
