Guest guest
This will direct you to a page that talks about applications of the cellulose. So in short a. xylinum may save you and the earth! I also wanted to add that in reading this I understood that cellulose is indigestible. So I guess if you eat the mushroom it will fill you up and you could use it for dieting if you like pickled stuff! Anyway, nata is a desert mentioned here and another paper. The bacteria that grows the mushroom is used in this desert made from coconut water I think!..It was a dieting fad in Japan. So for the person who wanted to know if you could eat the mushroom..I guess it would provide a lot of fiber but the organisms living in this protective shield may not be readily available since it is hard to digest.I guess eating it will reveal the truth in the end...no pun intended. And yes I know this is not the only thing that makes up the mushroom but it does form the mass. www.botany.utexas.edu/facstaff/facpages/mbrown/position1.htm
