Guest guest
This is a very serious issue with Aspergers syndrome people.. It was and is with my Aspergers son and he is 35! B is very vulnerable to people who could or would take advantage of him when they realize he is "different." I could tell you a real life horror story because of Bs inability to understand the intentions of other people. There are books, videos, etc. out there about "good" and "bad" people. Your son must be made to realize that all people are not nice people. These books and videos were not available 20+ years ago when they were needed for B.crystal visneski <mvlcrystal@...> wrote: Hello everyone, I am new to this group. I have a 12 yro boy with asperger's. I also have 2 kids that are neurotypical, ages 9 and 4. I had a scary situation happen today and I need some advice. My 2 sons and I went to see a movie, after the movie the boys asked for money for Yu-Gi-Oh cards out of the vending machine. I gave them some money and waited a few feet away. I heard a MAN ask them what cards they got. From the looks of the guy my gut said he could be a shady character. My kids were mostly talking to each other, but my aspie kid started talking to him a little. I ushered my boys out of there as fast as I could. My aspie boy didnt truly get it, and I realize it is because our kids that are ASD are trained so much to respond in a "socially apropriate way". HAs anyone ever encountered this! I know I cant be there for him 24 hours a day, especially as he gains teenage independence of some sort. I also know that I cant warn him for every possible way that a stranger could lure him! Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated! Thanks, Crystal Do you ?Get on board.
