Guest guest Posted April 25, 2006 Report Share Posted April 25, 2006 I thought someone on this list could give me a little insight into what has gone on with my son. He got really sick several weekends ago and we ended up in Urgent Care. To make a long story short, he ended up on oral Amoxicillin. He has not had antibiotics since diagnosis...have done everything to prevent it. Anyway, it was inevitable. We have had a rough time this winter but after starting the Amoxicillin he came back to baseline...even better. Speech improved, especially word usage (was doing alot of word switching prior and real difficulty getting thoughts out), everything across the board improved. We have seen a little drop off of this but still doing o.k. But some days while on the Amoxicillin I really had to convince myself that he still had issues because he was so NT. I do have to add that he is pretty close to recovery and we are mainly dealing with language issues but those were so much better I couldn't believe it. Any thoughts or input on the cause of this progression while on Amoxicillin. My DAN doc said that he treats one child who does amazing while on Amoxicillin and when he is off doesn't do as well.
