Guest guest
Marcia, Try giving it over 3x per day. No need to crush but I’m assuming you wash the blue dye off. I would definitely at least try it for the 40 days. - From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of rmminard2004 Sent: Monday, August 14, 2006 8:52 AM mb12 valtrex Subject: what does it mean if he does not respond to valtrex my son is on 1000 mg/day, about 3 weeks now. no rash, no fever, no obvious response. does this mean he does not have herpes virus or does it sometimes take a long time to get the reaction? i felt sure this would be the treatment that would finally trigger detox, my son is classic non-responder to everything. how long to i keep going before stopping, 40 days? i'm so bummed that this did not work. i give him 500 2x day. he swallows it in a spoon of applesauce, is it better to spread the does out more and crush it up? marcia

Guest guest
ok, thanks. i do wash blue off. i'll try to be patient, do some respond well without ever getting the rash or fever? oddly, i have been quite sick since he started, wonder if his virus is jumping into me! > > Marcia, > > Try giving it over 3x per day. Guest guest
Yes, about 40 % of the responders do not observe a rash or a fever. - Stan > > > > Marcia, > > > > Try giving it over 3x per day. Guest guest
I would spread it out to three times a day and make sure you have an antifungal onbaord like Nizoral or Diflucan. Then you'll know for sure if your child is not responding (after 40 days of trying). - Stan > > my son is on 1000 mg/day, about 3 weeks now. no rash, no fever, no > obvious response. does this mean he does not have herpes virus or does > it sometimes take a long time to get the reaction? i felt sure this > would be the treatment that would finally trigger detox, my son is > classic non-responder to everything. how long to i keep going before > stopping, 40 days? i'm so bummed that this did not work. > > i give him 500 2x day. he swallows it in a spoon of applesauce, is it > better to spread the does out more and crush it up? > > marcia >

Guest guest
Marcia; You aren't alone. We've been on valtrex for 45 days (3x/day 250mg, crushed). We have seen no symptoms or results either. My daughter is also a non-responder and I empathize with your disappointment. I too thought this might yield results.8 Perhaps valtrex is not the ticket for our kids in particular... I plan on moving on to the " next " treatment shortly.
