Guest guest
Thanks so much. I went to the VA this morning and they still had some medication to give me so I can continue with treatment without any interuption. There was many people there, I am glad they were open for everyone. Today it is going to warm up to 59* so hopefully those without heat can warm up their homes a little bit. I am SO grateful that I am sitting here in a warm house today, it's amazing how your perspective can change in such a short time. Guest guest
Yes, thankfully no one suffered from hypothermia. They opened many schools as warming centers and had a pick up service for the elderly and others who needed it. Unfortunately, there was some victims from carbon monoxide poisoning, people running their generators inside their homes or in their garages or using their gas stoves for heat. That is so dangerous. Guest guest
Carbon monoxide is a real killer , I just hope there were not to many victims .But it sounds as if the community is coming together to help those still in need which is great . Guest guest
That is often the case in situations like this. (Carbon Monoxide) You know something funny, I have always liked a wood stove, and many a winter it saved us money, and sometimes from freezing to death. (We had a ice storm several years ago so bad that we were without electricity for a week. ) At the time, my husband was working away from home, and had it not been for that stove we wouldn't have made it. We cooked on its top, dragged all the beds to the living room. It was our entertainment in the evening. We toasted marshmellows, made hot chocolate. I would read the kids books by lamp light and they really got into that. During the day, when we ran low on wood, the kids and I bundled up and went and cut firewood. We couldn't even drive into town, because the roads were so bad. But we did okay. After the electricity came back on we continued to do our night time reading till my older kids were grown. Funny thing is they didn't think of that as a hard time. They often tell the story of when we were snowed in and iced in. And how much fun it was. Now we live in a entirely different situation. No wood stove, and all electric heat, electric stove. But in my back yard is a fire pit. LOL No I would not bring it in the house. But I might build a fire place before long.LOL Love Janet Ally <4thMoon@...> wrote: Yes, thankfully no one suffered from hypothermia.
