Guest guest
Tracey, No one has lost their son here... at least not for longer than the healing-regression. Worst case if you stop so do the regressions... (as do the possible gains too). I would be moving to three times a day asap. I only waited a few days before going up to the full dose. As you probably know by reading, most folks who see a regression see it because the therapy is working. 60% of people who see gains have gone through a regressive period that can last 20 to 40 days. The nice thing is that you either have gains afterwards or you stop and move to something else and your child will be where they were before you started. That's been the case in report after report... going back hundreds of reports just from this group alone. It sounds like the Diflucan may not have been onboard when you started and that will slow the process down a bit but you sound like you're moving in the right direction. I would keep going and keep reporting in.... and continue to read other reports in our post in our post history so you can see how often the regressive-healing ends in gains. - Stan > > hello. tomorrow will be two weeks on valtrex at 250mg one time per > day. i haven't noticed any gains at all. just regressions. he's > quite stimmy, hyper and less interactive. he is hard to transition to > anything when he used to be so easy-going. his sleep has been better > these last few days but was pretty bad since the first night. i think > the diflucan has kicked in and he's slept through the last 3 nights. > but, he's not himself and it's starting to scare me a little. we're > only at one time a day. > > when so i up it to 2? should i just go for the 3 and get it over > with? is the fact that i'm not seeing gains along with the > regressions a sign that he can't tolerate the valtrex or perhaps > doesn't need it? > > help. i miss my son. > > tracey > proud mom to nick, 4 1/2 yrs old. pdd-nos >

Guest guest
We're at day 12 of Valtrex now 750mg per day (given twice a day). At first reaction was excaberated burping that started with oil of oregano and resulted in NO sleep. Then sleep has slowly improved but still burping like mad. On double dose Diflucan and may be switching to Nizoral because scared of yeast flare up and been on Diflucan two months. Anyways, about a week into Valtrex Cameron became very stimmy, lost eye contact and hardly maintains interest in anything. Day 10 103 fever, threw up, Day 11 loss of appetite Day 12 (today) lethargic, but started eating but still very disconnected. Also not sure whether to increase as my doctor suggested to 1000 mg daily. Just wanted to let you know Cameron's reactions so you can compare. Guest guest
Hi Thanks for sharing Cameron's experience on Valtrex. Just wondering, just started on my 60lb 8 year old at 500mg working our way up. You mentioned going up - how old/weight is your child. We are on day 4, will up to 750 tonight. Thanks... Guest guest
Cameron is almost five and is 40 lbs. Wow maybe my doctor does have him on a lot. Today we saw green diarrhea like some others have described. Less sick and a little less stimmy, but incredible amounts of burps and woke up at 4 am for day. Were thinking of staying at 750 mg per day and not going up yet. I will talk to my DAN doc today.

Guest guest
My son was 32-38 lbs during the therapy and he was taking 250 mgs three times a day. - Stan > > Cameron is almost five and is 40 lbs. Guest guest
I assume you mean 2000 per day... divided down into doses during the day.... hopefully three times a day. To me that sounds like a bit much. 3000mg is the typical adult dose.... 750 for the three year olds (just as an example of what we commonly see). I would think 500mg three times a day (1500mg) makes sense based on the data we have in the group for a child that size. - Stan > > Hi Stan > > Does 2000mg prescribed dose sound ok for a 8 (almost 9) year old who is > small about 62 lbs? w/ pretty high HV6?
