Guest guest
Hi all, a while ago I posted about our sonÕs massive improvements on Inflammation Control by VRP. We have added some other things since and have now had almost 6 weeks of continuous improvements. We are very pleased with what we are seeing and decided to share more details in case someone recognises his ÔprofileÕ and can benefit in some way. Also, as two of the new supplements we have introduced are relatively ÔunknownÕ, I would love to hear from anyone who has used them or is planning to try. Although we do not consider him ÔrecoveredÕ, and there is still a long way to go, for the first time now we feel like he has got a Ôfoot in the doorÕ recovery-wise. On particularly good days it feels like both his feet are firmly in the door!!! Like we are seeing more and more of the real child inside him. He has been on LDN since late February (half dose only, as could not tolerate the full dose after a while). We saw good things with it, in most areas, mostly social and communication. About 6 weeks ago we started Inlammation Control and saw great improvements straight away, as if all those good effects of LDN just amplified tenfold. We also saw some rashes, runny nose and cough, and decided to added Candex, as per viral protocols. A week or so later we added a herbal supplement Scutellaria B (by Solgar), another chinese herb that is supposed to inhibit inflammation. It is also a good antioxidant, antibacterial etcÉ as usual I have tons of papers on this one and can forward Shortly after that we started HoustonÕs Zyme Prime and saw a FLAT belly for the first time ever!! (thanks Mandi, I honestly had no idea there was such thing as a tastles enzymes ) As I said he has been doing very well on the above combo. I am researching some more herbs at the moment (having seen the Ômagic of herbsÕ in action I am now a convert!), will let you know of results, if any. LukaÕs Ôsymptoms and interventionsÕ profile: Luka was always a big ÔgutÕ baby. Massive appetite with very poor digestion. Had diarrheas from the day he was born. Bad reflux à although unfortunatelly we did not know that at the time always screamed when put in horizontal possition. Always had a red ring around annus (went away on LDN). He has also belonged to the Ôhyperimmune catergoryÕ à hardly ever had colds or runny nose, on few occasions that he did develop a fever he would regress in every way. Met all his physical milestones on time, or often before time à he crawled (ran!) at the age of 5 months, at about the same time he started to prop himself up against furniture. As soon as he could stand up he stood on his toes! Started teething at 4 months, by the end of his 6th month had EIGHT fully grown teeth in all. Walked (ran!) at 11 months, mostly on toes again. He was never severe, in terms of always having some, although minimal, eye contact, also liked physical contact with parents à cuddles and rough and tumble, liked presence of other people (although as Darla said he did not feel any need to communicate or Ôshare experiencesÕ), also liked other kids, but only for as long as they would engage in physical 'play'. Mostly this meant him running in circles and them chasing after him! As soon as a kid would get tired Luka would lose interest in the ÔplayÕ. He also loved having Ôscreaming exchanges' with other kids (and still does lol, the difference being that now he looks them in the eyes and laughs, whereas before he used to scream and laugh while running away from them) He never really regressed but never developed normally à he bubbled less than other babies, and showed less interest in toys (or more, as in obsessing over one or two toys or videos), and he missed out on pointing and waving phase. When he was around 13-14 months of age he did go through a short period of waving by-by and sometimes pointing to things. That soon dissapeared and he started to show lots of OCD, and more and more stimming. He would spin his cups for hours and hours on end, literally. He also started to develop VERY bad ADHD à his focus and attention were almost non-existant by the time he was 18 months old. Became manic and quite agressive. When not manic then looking deeply anxious. He also develped ezcema. His tantrums and transition problems got worse and worse, he was just getting impossible to handle. No language or any form of communication, when he e.g. wanted a biscuit he would just go into the kitchen, stand there and scream. He did not have the MMR or the single vaccines during this period (he did have all the early childhood vacs on schedule). We ÔunknowinglyÕ started interventions when he was about 17 months à as we were looking to find the source of his allergy (what was causing the eczema), we cut out dairy completely. No more formula milk before bedtime. Unexpected to us he started sleeping better - less waking up screaming during the night, less screaming and sitting up in bed while trying to fall asleep. (soooo painfully obvious now in retrospect). At 20 months, after realising that he definitely WAS on the spectrum, we started gfcf sugar free. He responded very well, with drastic reduction of ADHD. He just seemed to sober up within days of starting the diet. His eczema cleared completely! His lab tests at the time showed bad gut dysbiosis, next to 0 good bacteria. His OAT test markers were all over the place, hardly anything in the normal range. His blood results were mostly fine, but he did have markers of chronic inflammation. Some B vitamins were poor or borderline, as were his omega 3Õs. The thing that was most surprising (to our DAN at least, as we did not know what to expect anyway) was that his provoked urine challenge came out fine. Everything within range. A short summary of sucessful and unsucessful treatments: He has done well on gfcf and sugar free and later SCD (dairy free). He regressed on Supernutera, and all other 'multies' we tried introducing, also had a VERY bad regression on calcium supplements. Had nosebleed the day we tried adding Taurine. We did mb12 shots for 7-8 months - saw some great things about a month into them but then benefits leveled off... no bad things from it either. No other methylation support. No chelation. Apart from those mentioned above these are the sups he has been doing well on lately: cp-1 probiotics, benfothiamine, nadh (powder form, have run out recently), riboflavin, p5p, zinc picolinate, magnesium glycinate, selenium, l-carnitine, milk thistle. td-gluthatione. All this was introduced between January and March this year. Hope this information can one day be of help to someone else. Natasa p.s. will be posting this on other boards, sorry for repeats. PostPosted: Wed Jun 07, 2006 11:44 pm Post subject: Reply with quote Edit/Delete this post Hi and others, just to let you know that I have found a 'western' product with these ingredients. It also contains luteolin extract from another plant, which has many amazing properties as well (I can forward abstracts and a few complete studies if anyone interested). The product is called Inflammation Control by Vitamin Research Product. Our story (short version, in case it helps with "profile for seeing benefits"): Luka has been making very good progress lately on LDN - we started it in March and have seen LOTS of good things. We have added this Inflammation Control a couple of weeks ago and since then his progress has eccelerated tenfold!!! We have not started or stopped anything else in these past two weeks (we stopped mb12 shots but that was almost a month ago). Of course it could all be a coincidence. And it could be temporary (I soooo pray it isn't!!!). Or could be things of the past months finally coming together, but I do feel these herbs have a lot to do with it. We have not done his genetics yet. He has always been a 'gut kid' with bad reflux and a 'hyperimmune kid' (hardly ever sick, when he was sick he would regress and be EXTREMELY irritable and hard to handle - I suspect his immune system grossly overworked and overinflammed). I also suspect he is COMT++ and probably some VDR issues, as history of VDR related issues in my family. He never regressed into autism, didn't have MMR but I believe now each of his early childhood vaccines made him cry a bit louder and longer for days afterwards Sad He is not severe but lots of OCD (less and less nowdays) and very short-fuse temper. He has done well on gfcf and sugar free and later SCD dairy free. No other methylation support at present. Apart from LDN these are the sups he has been doing well on lately: benfothiamine, nadh (powder form), riboflavin, p5p, zinc picolinate, magnesium glycinate, selenium, l-carnitine, milk thistle. td-gluthatione.
