Guest guest
, I recently got my son's (5 yrs, ASD) viral panel back from Labcorp and the numbers are even higher than your son's on every test (and for about 8 others, including very high strep numbers). We have been doing IVIG for 16 months, Valtrex for 7 months, high dose vitamin A 3 times, LDN for 8 months, and a ton of other biomed. Dr Usman felt that some of the reason his numbers were so high is that his immune system was actually working better than in the past (we did some of these tests about 18 months ago and all the numbers have gone up, not down...). She had us stop Valtrex temporarily and go on PRX (a stronger verson of Virastop only sold to medical professions) and OLE (3 times a day for both), along with diflucan. She also suggested that I do the Yasko metal RNAs (we are mostly following the Yasko protocol already), of which many are targeted at viruses. You can read more about these at www.autismanswer.com, under the parent forum but it is hard to follow...). My son is doing well (although I am attributing his recent surge in language and social to NCD which we started before the antivirals) and it is too soon to tell if this antiviral protocol is working for him. He has been on PRX/OLE/Diflucan about 2 1/2 weeks and no regression or rashes at all. I have not started the metal RNAs yet. I would be interested to hear what your doctor tells you or for anyone else's input. > > Hello all. We just got our sons viral tests back, here is what we > show. Guest guest
Hi all, and StanThis is McNulty, mom to age 9 with ASD in Thousand Oaks. I'm fairly convinced viruses afre a problem for , and Have asked our DAN! doctor, Dr. Hirani to consider Valtrex. She wants to run a viral panel first to get a baseline. She mentioned the McCandless viral panel — which I think we did a couple years ago - super high titiers to American Measles - can't IMAGINE where he got that....;( Anyway, I'm sorry, I'm still trying to catch up with the reading for newbies in this group... we just got back from vacation tonight, and have a blood draw scheduled on Thursday afternoon at Dr. Hirani's office. Is there a SPECIFIC viral panel that is recommended, Stan??? Or anyone else know? I'm pretty sure the one Dr. Hirani's talking about covers the ones below.I once had a conversation with Stan though, and he said it is his feeling that there are likely unidentified viruses out there, that may not show up on the viral panel, and even if your child does NOT show high titers, may still benefit from Valtrex. In the fall of '04. Sept to Dec, for 4 months we did IVIG with Dr. Gupta. It was absolute hell for my son making him go on an IV all day. BUT... he was not sick ONCE after we started, and I had a kid who was very prone to getting ear infections, colds, URI's, ect. It was two months after stopping IVIG, that he came down with something again. I really think it helped his immune system, but I think we need to do more. Most people who commit to IVIG do it longer. We just couldn't. Cost was one factor... emotional trauma the main factor. So maybe the Valtrex will help us knock this thing out.We are also starting on Diflucan tomorrow. He is having really strange behaviors after topical DMSA, which Dr. Hirani says may be yeast. I listened to Stan's Autism One talk (the link provided when I joined) and he said the (DMSA?) made him feel terrible. I think it is more than a yeast flare which is affecting after DMSA. I guess I need to try it on myself as well. (I'm sort of chicken... I'm SO chemically sensitive, maybe my son is as well.) McNultyjennim@... On Jun 20, 2006, at 2:44 PM, LKMIZE wrote:Hello all. Guest guest
Hi All Where can i get a hearing test done for a nonverbal kid? I did it earlier with Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and they just said within normal limits. I want a place where they can be more specific like saying really good, moderate or bad. What might be the reason for twisting fingers? Thanks Rajee Re: questions re: viral test results Hi all, and Stan This is McNulty, mom to age 9 with ASD in Thousand Oaks.
