Guest guest
Ok guys, I know it seems like I brought a lot of drama and questions with me, but I need to know. My DS is 3 and for about a week now, I've been noticing some strange behaviour. He'll lay on the ground on his stomach and put his forehead down on the ground so that it is touching and then he'll get stiff and his legs will go straight out behind him and his toes will point straight out . I've even noticed he'll try to make fists or he'll actually make fists while this is going on. He only stays this way for about a minute or maybe not quite that long. When he is like this he doesn't say anything and I usually have to say his name 2-3 times before he'll respond. Today we were at my sister's house and he was standing next to the chair I was sitting in and all of a sudden he gets down on the floor in the position I mentioned above and then once he's done he just kind of layed there for a minute and then he got up and went on with something else. This is really scaring me and I was just going to see if there were any other parents that had children who had seizures that could help me out. We have his well check up on the 27th so I'm defenitly going to bring this up to his Ped and see what she thinks. I'm just so scared for him because like any mother, I don't want to see him in any pain and I know that with seizures he would be. Please give me your honest opinions. Leighanne Autos. Guest guest
it sounds to me like a stim, not a seizure. i can't be sure, of course, so you should definitely talk to your dr. but i have seen kids stim in a similar way to what you are describing. What would Jesus Do.....for a Klondike Bar??
Guest guest
IT COULD be a seizure but don't panic! Have them do a sleep deprived EGGs 24hour if possible. The fact that he doesn't respond is a HUGE red flag. A seizure can be as small as a few seconds or more. Does he get tired after wards and need a nap? I think you are wise to let his dr. know. I give my kids B6/Mag/Cal/D to help prevent them. They had Absent,(petit mall) , staring seizures. They had them for two years before a friend recognized them. I have done this spacing out all my life and never knew it was a seizure! Best of luck! Guest guest
My 14 year old son whom has Aspergers used to have seizures when he was very young and has grown out of them. The type he had were called Juvenile Rolandic seizures, which are very short seizures (lasting about 30-45 seconds), and they only happened during REM sleep. He only had about 2 or 3 seizures in a year. His eyes were open and his legs got stiff and shook very slightly, and he wouldn't respond and a little foaming at the mouth. He had a sleep depriviation EEG, and they found slight seizure activity on his frontal lobe. He was on Tegratol for a short time and then the seizures just stopped and he was weaned off the medicine. He hasent had a seizure now in almost 7 years. The docotr had explained to me that seizures are totally painless, and one does not know they are even having one. I was just told to keep a close eye on my son while he was bathing, swimming and riding a bike, so he wouldn't get hurt, if he did have a seizure. Actually at the time he had these episodes we did not even know he had AS, he wasn't diagnosed with AS until he was almost 12. Keep us posted as to what goes on. Don't worry though, He will be fine. Take it from experience. I was the same way, all worried. But everything went fine. in ILL.Leighanne Ratliff <a_cute_tx_cowgirl@...> wrote: Ok guys, I know it seems like I brought a lot of drama and questions with me, but I need to know. Guest guest
Leighanne, To me it sounds like a sensory issue....... I COULD BE WRONG....... Most people do not anticipate a seizure...... But with our kids anything is possible..... Definately bring it up with your pediatrician..... My son use to tense up his whole body when he was stressed out.... He never laid on the ground but his whole body would go stiff and he would squeeze his fists together.... Maybe he is blowing off steam???? At one point I thought my son was potentially having seizures as well. He would just completely zone out for about 20 seconds or so.... His doctor ordered an EEG to see if there were any discrpancies in his brain waves..... All was good...... Good luck to you!!! in Lancaster, CaLeighanne Ratliff <a_cute_tx_cowgirl@...> wrote: Ok guys, I know it seems like I brought a lot of drama and questions with me, but I need to know.
