Guest guest
Tomorrow will be day 60 of Valtrex 250mg 3x a day. We did a week of 2x a day before we moved to 3x. We are taking diflucan daily as well as using Candex and probiotics. We saw nothing with the Valtrex. No rash, no fever, no runny nose, nothing like I've read others mention. We are doing HDD MB12 shots as well as nasal spray daily. No changes to anything in our protocol has changed other than the occassional increase in yeast fighting My son is 4 1/2 and we have tried to potty train him several times. He never quite got it but would on occassion ask to go potty. It never got us too excited because it could be months before he asked again. Last Thursday 6/15, he asked to go potty. then 30 minutes later he asked again, then 15 minutes later again!!! Friday after school I put him in underwear and we've not looked back. He still has 1 or 2 urine accidents a day, usually catches it and finshes on the potty. BM's are another story, maybe 50% of the time he will go on the potty but I've heard that even with typical kids BMs are bit trickier. so basically in 2 days my son potty trained himself. To this day we are not putting any pressure, or pushing him to do BMs on the potty, but we do ask him if he has to go. I don't want to discourage him I don't know what did this though!!! We started NOTHING new, nor did we eliminate anything anywhere close to the time this happened. So do I stay with Valtrex??? Is it the reason this happened or a piece of his supplement puzzle that we just found the right combination?? I don't know what to do. Should we try stopping and retry at a later time?? Guest guest
Hi Patty, My son (4.5 years old) has been on Valtrex for 115 days now and just like you we never had rashes (except for a runny nose but I'm not sure if it was due to Valtrex because I also had colds at that time). Ethan (my son) showed remarkable progress after 60 days on Valtrex but he seemed to plateau afterwards. When we switched DAN doctors, my DAN doctor said to up the dosage to 1,500mg (500mg 3x a day) from 750mg a day (250mg x 3). We started increasing the dose slowly --we are now giving 1,250 a day (500mg in the morning, 500mg in the afternoon and 250mg at night). We started increasing the dose last June 7th and two days ago, Ethan had horrible rashes all over (the legs, sides of the tummy, arms). Today, I noticed that some pimply rashes appeared on his face and the top of his feet. I'm sure this is due to valtrex because nothing has been added to his protocol except for increasing the Valtrex dosage. I'm not sure though if your doctor will approve increasing your son's dosage of Valtrex. My son's viral panel test results showed elevated herpes viruses so our DAN doctor felt increasing the dosage might do the trick. Awi > > Tomorrow will be day 60 of Valtrex 250mg 3x a day.
