Guest guest
With Liver diseases there is there is a propensity for iron to accumulate in the liver. Say you are taking a multi-vitamin, make sure that there is no added iron in the multi vitamin. They say that dietary iron is not proven to be a risk. But you might want to look at the types of foods you are eating. A low fat diet is recommended and exercise. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Yeah my iron saturation level was at 85% by that time , lol I had to have weekly phlebotomies to bring it back down . Amazingly enough when I did I responded better to the treatment than I ever had before , my viral load was down to 326 . Unfortunately my heart started giving me trouble so now I am no longer able to tolerate treatment . Guest guest
As liver disease progresses iron accumulates in the liver ,kidney , and blood . I think it has to do with the livers inablity to utilize it so it just accumulates . The worse the liver disease the higher the iron sats . And with high iron sats , the iron starts to damage the liver , kidneys, and heart which I think is what happened to me . I never took iron suppliments or vitamins it just happens .. Guest guest
I can't remember where I heard this, (it was probably here) but someone said that iron is supposed to feed the virus, making it stronger. We hear so many things about this virus, I'd have to believe this now, after reading that when you had phlebotomies you responded. BTW, I finished all 48 weeks and was clear at the end of treatment. I'll do a 3 month and a 6 month test and let you know the results.
