Guest guest
Some families report die offs as long as a week, sometimes more. I would try the antifungals at night and the activated charcoal in the morning. The morning is when you'll have the most built up dead bacteria IMO. That seems to work the best. How's his tongue look? At first it commonly looks more white over the first day or two and then it starts looking better. Fungal die off can make you feel sick... like a cold or like having the flu. You may want to reduce the dosage (maybe by half) for a little while and then work your way up, but personally I wouldn't just stop at this point.... It sounds like your doing some good. Just my opinion. Typically if it's not working, you don't see anything from Diflucan or any antifungal. - Stan > > My 8 year old 70 lb son has been on 100 mg of Diflucan for 5 days > now. Guest guest
Thank you Stan, I appreciate your input. The tongue seems okay in the last couple of days or so, I didn't think to look before (should have but it slipped my mind). Giving activated charcoal first thing in the morning is a good idea, I can easily do that, thanks. I'll see how he does in the next couple of days and then see about halving the dose if required. Much grateful for the support, yes we are seeing something. When you see bad stuff the brain freezes in panic and its hard to see the good. At least for me. Guest guest
I've been wondering the same thing, only my son has been on diflucan for several weeks. I stopped it to make sure the Diflucan was the source of his increased irritibility and then once reintroduced, I realized it sure WAS! My son cries in frustration about everything! I put a call into my DAN doctor & he said he heard Dr. Baker speak on this very thing. He said that some kids have really stubborn yeast & you need to push through it if you can. He said to take activated charcoal up to 6 times daily if needed. This might be the subgroup of kids that really will do well getting the yeast taken care of, but you have to push through it. It could take up to 2 months (according to my DAN who quoted Dr. Baker). My son really improves in " with-it-ness " & attention/focus on Diflucan, but the screams have got to stop! Hopefully, he's right & we just need to see it through! Good luck! (mom to Caleb & 2 sets of twins) > > > > > > My 8 year old 70 lb son has been on 100 mg of Diflucan for 5 > days > > > now. Guest guest
I was on Nizoral awhile. A different antifungal but my doc, who is immunologist, said if I felt sick, I should stop until I felt better (probably a day or two), then go back on it but at a lower dose. If I feel sick again, do the same, until I get to dose I can take without feeling sick. Later I can try a higher dose again if I am doing well on it again. Anyway, I've read in research literature that cholestyramine CSM is used to pull toxins out of system under toxic liver conditions or hepatoxicity, which is what I think causes these symptoms, as the liver is the organ that has to clean the blood of toxins. Charcoal is used also but I think CSM is considered more effective. For people who are very sensitive to substances, one can get it compounded without the yellow dye and sweetener, absoluately plain, and mix it is juice or something. The yellow dye is a frequent allergen in people who are sensitive. I also read that cholestyramine was studied to use in combination with DMSA to pull the DMSA out, to keep it from recirculating in blood. Something someone here posted not long ago, long research article that near the end talked about combining DMSA with cholestyramine and also a study on one other substance to pull it out quicker. I believe that was purpose. I didn't read it real thoroughly. --- jensbeard <jensbeard@...> wrote: > I've been wondering the same thing, only my son > has been on diflucan > for several weeks.
