Creation of New SCOBY

Hello all! I've got a story to share with you. Hope you enjoy it.

Since July, I've been dabbling in gem therapy, the idea being that

crystals have healing properties. Someone suggested that I add a bit

of gem elixir to my KT. Since gem elixirs are simply made by placing

a gem or crystal in spring water overnight, then diluting the water

half-and-half with wine vinegar, I thought what the heck, it can't

hurt. (Yeah, believe me, I am JUST as weird as most of us on this

list, you betcha.) Anyways, I collected all of the crystals I had,

put them out during the lunar eclipse a few months ago, then diluted

them with homemade wine vinegar. Okay, enough with the woo-woo

stuff. When I went to use the citrine elixir (one of my favorites),

I saw that it had formed -- what's this? -- a tiny baby scoby on top

of the bottle! I said, hello, little one, and wondered to myself if

it would indeed produce KT. I popped it into a quart jar during my

weekly brewing day (using the hibiscus tea!) and checked it the next

week.

Well, that tiny little " scoby " actually grew, and also, it

actually seems to be producing something very, very much like KT! It

may be simply a vinegar offshoot of some sort, but it tastes

wonderful! I'm going to continue making wee batches of KT with

this " citrine scoby " , and perhaps the other elixirs will produce

their own scobies, each with their own attributes!

Namaste!

-- Sylvia
