Louie is HFA as well, with impulsivity, rage, and a total lack of

understanding of the more abstract end of cause and effect.

wont.

Another alternative is sparkling flavored spring water and/or seltzer.

I had to give up sodas because of the sodium and the sugar, so I weaned

myself off them with Santa Fe Springs sparkling spring water in lime,

lemon, berry, and plain (it's not from NM, and they have a website).

Now the only thing I drink is Albertson's Seltzer in either lemon or

lime (my favorite). No sugar, no sodium, but flavor and (most important

to me) bubbles! Even Louie likes seltzer and drinks it sometimes when

he's over for dinner. :) Oh, and Albertson's seltzer is under a dollar

for a 2 liter bottle, so it's even cheaper than soda too.

has an unknown genetic abnormality.

We're not sure if the asd is part of that, or if he'd be like he is anyway.

I htink the 2 are connected

Our 10 yo ds is HFA and came to us through adoption out of foster care. We've had a tough time sorting the ASD symptoms from abuse/neglect symptoms, and it's been a lot of trial and error - fortunately not too much error.

He has ADHD so bad he is absolutely not to be lived with, without meds. They had him on strong antipsychotics and Depakote when he came and we got him off those real quick. We used Concerta at first, and it worked well, but he had the most awful rebounds in the evening, and we couldn't get him to do a thing before the Concerta started working in the AM, so we asked our doc about using Strattera along with the Concerta. The mix was wonderful ! Not only did the rebounds stop, but his sensory issues diminished significantly. After about 6 months, we were finally able to discontinue the Concerta. Without the Concerta, he is more of a challenge, but does well enough at home and school we can use behavior management instead of the stimulant.

My son has a rare genetic disorder called Kallmann's Syndrome. He is part

of a research study at Mass General Hospital in Boston and they said that

there are now a clinically significant number of boys in the study diagnosed

with Aspergers as well as KS.

, You can find them in a health food store or you can buy sparkling water and mix with juice. Good Luck!!!! in Lancaster, Ca Bernstein <m_bernstein@...> wrote: , I have never heard of natural soda! A previous diet coke fiend myself, had to give it up after severe stomach issues, I would be interested in hearing more if you can give me the info. Soda has always been restricted from my son's diet, and he (14) sneaks it whenever he can, I would love the option to offer it if I knew more about it! Re: 12 yr old Asperger LJ, I dont normally buy soda but when my son started taking meds I did buy some of the natural sodas. It helped him to swallow the pills easier. I myself had trouble swallowing pills and to this day cannot swallow pills with water unless I am dying. The bubbles seem to block out the feeling of the pill sliding down your throat. He now can take pills with water but it helped him to learn to swallow them

initially. It worked for us..... in Lancaster, Calaclaylew@... wrote: We were very resistant to meds but it has been amazing. We could all tell the difference and (8.5) even said that he didn't want to miss his medicine again because he couldn't control himself! It was a nice reassurance that it does help and it was nice that he was able to recognize the difference. Now if I could just get him to swallow it with water! Getting him to take meds is tough. I really want to try some of the supplements but I can't get him to take them. Are there liquid supplements available somewhere? LJ TravelFind great deals to the top 10 hottest destinations!
