Hi I am new to the list. I have been on tx for about 5 weeks now, I did a partial tx in 04 but stopped because of heart palpatations. I feel much worse this time around. I just moved 3000 miles from Oregon to Arkansas and the humidity is killing me..ahhhh...I stay on the couch most of the day, walking to the bathroom and the kitchen mostly. I do try to get out once a day in the evening, since, I cannot tolerate the heat at all. I feel like I am turning into a bowl of jello, fast. I hurt from the tx and from not exersising too. I am sore all the time. I sleep a lot.. I just stay feeling weak mostly. The pills seem to just keep me tired. The shot about 3 hours after it I get a sore neck and back. And then sleep for 3 days straight. If I do wander out into the real world, I basicly cry until I get home and collapse on the couch again. I am a big girl already so I feel I need to move some. But I just cant seem to. I would love to go swim but the pool here is outside..I seem to shower about 1-2 times per week. I do notice that the first 2-3 weeks were easier and now it is getting harder for me. I do know I need to drink more water. Hang in there, it gets so frustrating at times being so weak all the time. My name is Geri and I am 47 type 3A..talk soon God bless...geri

Forget drinking water , try some sports drinks like propel or gatorade they are better at electrolyte replacement .

ok cool.. since I just moved I dont have my follow up appointment until the 9th of July.. I am hoping I do ok till then since I am alone right now.. I had lots of dizziness when I was on treatment and it was usually related to the white blood cells dropping , so make sure you get your labs done when your supposed to . Zophran works real well for the nausea , make sure you let your doc know your nauseated . If you start to vomit drink sports drinks to replace the electrolytes (sodium, potassium ,etc ) or you will start having leg cramps . Water is good but doesnt really replenish anything ,LOL I drink gatorade and it has about 20 different flavors now days .

The first shot wasn't bad . . .

at all/the anticipation was much worse. The Interferon made me feel flushed, in waves, and very itchy (already was itchy, LOL). The biggest problem I had Sat. night was not being able to sleep (despite taking my Trazodone). I did feel the effects of the Ribavirin within 15 minutes and felt very spaced out and woozy the rest of the night.Yesterday, I felt like I had the flu in the afternoon/some nausea, bad muscle aches and very fatigued. I even had Dh buy me a small shower chair because I've been so dizzy lately (worked good, too!)All in all, very relieved that the first shot is over and I'm sure that all of the water I've been drinking and how I've been eating has made a difference, too. Thanks for the good advice :)Robin

Hi Geri I do believe liz has given you really good advice but she and I do differ on our opinions of gatoraid and other sports drinks that have sugar in them. I think once a day to drink at least 8 ounces of a electrolyte solution is good, but I just dont like gatoraid as the sugar particles are too large to be effective and then have to be digested before they can be used,, and once they are digested, there isnt much of the good stuff left. AND sugar is really bad for your liver.. Sorry Liz, I am not trying to offend ya, I just know what i know about sports drinks and most of them are just expensive sugar water with artificial flavors and artificial colors. But, I agree with everything else you said.. love you hon meelizabethnv1 <elizabethnv1@...> wrote: Hi Geri welcome to the group . My name is I am a moderator and a medical researcher for this group . Hi Geri! Wow, from Oregon to Arkansas huh? I lived in Oregon when I was on treatment, lived in Hillsboro, just outside of Portland. Part of why you are feeling weak and like that bowl of jello is because you are most likely becoming anemic. Same thing happened to me so make sure your doc checks your labs frequently to see if you need procrit or neupogen for your red and white cells. Listen, I spent ONE ENTIRE year in bed with treatment, try not to be so hard on yourself.. The thing is this: YOU WANT to only have to do this treatment this time, I know you quit the first time because of unforseen problems, but this time, you want to make it all the way through,, so IF THAT means laying on the couch and resting or sleeping for the entire time you are on treatment,, so be it honey.I'll bet the palpitations you had before were from becoming Anemic and had your doc given you procrit, you might have been able to finish tx,,. THE ONLY thing

that is important right NOW is getting through treatment and dont let ANYTHING side track ya,., nothing... walk if you can, but if you can't, dont be hard on yourself, remember this treatment is NOT FOREVER.. Now, DO YOU take tylenol 30 min before you do your shot? That should help with the body aches and other side effects,, but if not, ask your doc for something better. Tylenol and advil did not work for me and so my doc put me on Norco while on treatment BECAUSE HE understood that I was dead set on finishing my treatment no matter what.. and you might be starting to need the procrit and neupogen.. when your red cells get so low, they cannot carry the oxygen and that makes you weak, short of breath and just feel awful.. your hemoglobin should not drop more than 2 whole points without your doc starting you on procrit to raise your red cells. Like I said before, the palpitations are a symptom of anemia and Ill bet that was what was wrong the first time

you attempted treatment. You said you were drinking the water. Are you drinking half of your body weight in ounces? That means say IF you weigh 130 pounds, then you would drink 65 ounces per day. Its good to add an electrolyte solution for at least 1 or 2 8 ounce glasses a day too just to make sure your electrolytes dont get out of line.. Some ppl advocate the sports drinks or gatoraid. I dont because they have too much sugar in them and sugar is bad for the liver, plus the sugar molecule is too large to pass directly into the blood for rehydration and then has to be digested.. Pedialyte would be a better choice than gatoraid if only because the Pedialyte doesnt contain artificial colors, artificial flavors and a LOT of sugar. Anyway,, welcome to the group and I hope you will make it this time.. BTW ( by the way) where in Oregon did you live? take care, jackieus4heavenbound@...

Hi Tim Yes Carrot juice is ok,, in moderation as it has a high content of Vit A, Iron and beta carotene,, all 3 can harm the liver, but in small amounts, thats ok..thanks for the inputHillbilly Tim <knoxweb1@...> wrote: well Jackie,i will agree with you on the sports drinks, but as well i didn't want to make anyone mad, fresh juice carrot and veggie juice is what i would say 2 ta 3, 8 ounce glasses, plus water++,this is whether your on or off treatments. They have come out with a new line of gatorade that is colorless , but has the same flavors . With all the artifical coloring in foods these days I dont think a little extra in my gatorade is gonna kill me . Besides I can eat anything I want now days , lol I am on the gaining track so that if the protease inhibitors come out soon enough I will have the weight to lose from the sides . Hmm I think I will go eat a snowball , lol I am envious of your svr and I am happy your not in my shoes . Luv ya
