When do you give Valtrex 3x per day?

Hi,

Sorry it's me again with my dosing questions...

When do you give Valtrex 3x per day?

- with meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)?

- or do you dose every 6 hrs during the day? something like 8 am, 2

pm, 8 pm?

- or do you dose every 8 hrs? something like 8 am, 4 pm, 12 am (night

dose for my little one who sleeps 12 hrs at night)?

Does it matter to take it with food? It says " VALTREX Caplets may be

given without regard to meals. " , but my pharmacist recommended to

take it with food.

People seems to dose twice or three times a day. The half life of

acyclovir is about 3 hrs. So why don't we dose more than 3 times a

day? Sorry I am at a loss here.

About the dosing.

1. Yes, that's the half-life (2.5-3.3 hours)... not the life.

2. We have some reports of people dosing 4 times a day or three

times a day at equal distance from each other and I can't say I see

any better results from it.

3. That's what worked for us.
