I am really confused about the diflucan dosing! I have seen varying

input re: how much diflucan to give. My son is 100#. The diflucan

website says up to 400 mg/day for an adult. Dr. McCandless says up to

80mg/day for a 50# child.

Stan, you suggested 500 mg 3X/day for a 100 # child, which is far more

than either of the first two suggestions.

Can anyone confirm which of these to go with?

Also, re: valtrex: why are people crushing the pill and putting it in

juice/ Is this recommended as better than just swallowing the pill?

Thanks.

Because some of our children are to small to swallow pills. Esp the size of valtrex.

If your child can swallow pills that's great. People on this sight crush

and mix because their children can't do that. Just make sure you Wash off the

blue dye!

In case anyone else is intersted I sent the prescription to my compounding

pharamacy and they compounded it into a liquid with stevia and clear grape

flavor.

As for Diflucan, Stan said 50mg per day (but divided 2x at 25mg) for a

child under 50lbs but states clearly that he is not a Doctor and you should

refer to Dr. McCandless or your DAN for dosing. I hope this helps. -

Stan's recommendation of 500 three times a day is for Valtrex, not Diflucan.

Those of us who crush the pill have children who cannot swallow. If yours

can, then swallowing it should be fine. I would still wash off the horrible

blue coloring though!
