Hi there, I thought I'd share this bit of information with you.

I found a wonderful 5 gallon Italian glass jar for under $30 at

CostCo this week.

I've tried finding it on the web and saw that people are selling

these for way more plus $20 s/h on eBay

see:

So, if you have a CostCo nearby and like aloooot of KT, this is for

you :)

If you don't have a CostCo card, ask a friend or family member,

chances are someone has a membership with them. If all fails post on

Craigstlist and see if someone will let you tag along with them.

Hope this is helpful to some of you out there.

I am tickled pink over the size of this jar....

Hi Misha and EveryOne,

Nice container, but can you tell whether or not the Kombucha is

touching any metal in the spigot for more than the time it takes to

pour it through? If so, you might want to try to get a plastic or

wooden spigot to replace the metal one.

Kombucha and metal don't mix and yet I just read an article that

stated that Kombucha Wonder Drink is going to be sold in cans!

Kombucha in an aluminum can would be poisonous unless they have a way

to line the cans to keep the metal and kombucha from touching.

Kombucha, being acidic, will leach metal from cans or containers it is

stored in and should not be stored with any metal touching the

Kombucha. There may be an exception to this in the very highest

quality stainless steel, - although stainless contains nickel so that

can't be good either.

I highly recommend that you stay with glass for brewing and storing

your Kombucha.

Peace, Love and Harmony,

Bev

Good point, Bev!!

I believe the spigot is chrome, not good!

However, I think that will be an easy one to replace with a wooden

or (food grade) plastic one from the brewer store.

I have one nearby and will see what I can find.

WOW - I can't imagine them selling Kombucha in cans. Makes me wonder

if they'll possibly water down their recipe.

Thanks for the heads up.

Replace the spigot with a plastic one and you are good to go. Those spigots

are very inexpensive
