Guest guest
I'm not Stan, but he firmly recommends Valtrex 3x/day with Diflucan. For our 4yo son this made a big difference. We previously gave him 500mg twice a day, now we split the pills so it's 250mg 3x/day and the daily dose of Diflucan is a must. -Jon > > DS has been on Valtrex since Dec 17, intially started at 500mg once a > day, then moved to 500mg twice a day for one month, and now 500mg once > a day for thenext 2 months. Guest guest
Forgive me , I'm just starting to jump back in after being out for a few weeks, so forgive me for not knowing the details of what happened. I think the good news is you see gross motor gains, which is one of the signs that Valtrex is doing good things. If you don't have the yeast under control, you can't really tell how much milage you're getting from Valtrex. You really need to be on a good antifungal at the same time... Diflucan, Amphotericin B, or Nizoral (IMO). That said, I'm don't have a strong opnion against chelating (if you really want to) along with Valrex once you get through the healing regression. If you do, I would get liver enzymes done every other month just to be sure, but there are many families who do both. - Stan > > DS has been on Valtrex since Dec 17, intially started at 500mg once a > day, then moved to 500mg twice a day for one month, and now 500mg once > a day for thenext 2 months. Guest guest
One more thing, I would be dosing Valtrex three times a day. More people see results three times a day than two times a day. - Stan > > DS has been on Valtrex since Dec 17, intially started at 500mg once a > day, then moved to 500mg twice a day for one month, and now 500mg once > a day for thenext 2 months. Guest guest
We can only do twice a day, as he out much of the day. Also we did not observe any gains gross or fine motor.

Guest guest
What exactly have you observed? Maybe we can offer some suggestions. Can you tell us a bit about your child's history. - Stan > > We can only do twice a day, as he out much of the day. > Also we did not observe any gains gross or fine motor. > >

Guest guest
MY DS is 66 pounder 7.5 year old, major issues social, fine and gross motor delay, pica, low physical energy although hyperactive(jumps a lot). Started biomed at 4.5 year. Started chelation with tddmps in sept, got subtle gains. Nystatin brought clearing up of staring spells. No changes in motor or social skills. Temporarily stopped chelation march end, becoz of low calcium. Plan to start Detoxamin becoz of pica and high lead. Started Valtrex at 250mg in mid Dec, moved on 500mg twice a day and then did 2 months of Valtrex 500mg once a day.Went back to Valtrex 500mg twice a day and 500mg of OLE. Have got non red rash all over face and sky high yeast and worsening behavoiur for the last 1 month. I am not seeing any gains social, motor wise or behaviour wise on overall 4 months of Valtrex. He is a definite yeast and gut kid. Adding Diflucan to Valtrex worsened behaviour much more, whereas Nystatin helps in behaviour so much. Just started 500mg of L-carnitine tartarte to help with energy levels and gross and fine motor skills. I am at loss at now, should I give up on Valtex. > > > > We can only do twice a day, as he out much of the day. > > Also we did not observe any gains gross or fine motor. > > > > >

Guest guest
I responded to this yesterday, but I read it again today. I can't stress the importance of having fungus under control while on Valtrex... and as I mentioned earlier, if you don't see some gains after 45 days, it may not be a therapy for you. Not all therapies work for all kids. This is a therapy that seems to help more than half the people who do it (while properly using an antifungal like Diflucan, Amp-B, Nizoral, etc). Additionally, some people have successfully added a metals detox strategy on top of Valtrex. I personally didn't have to. My son dumped metals well enough on Valtrex it seems. But, some families go after metals detox. If I were in your shoes, I would work diligently on fungus for a week (possibly two) and then see where you are. If you don't see anything beneficial at that point, I would move the the next therapy. - Stan > > DS has been on Valtrex since Dec 17, intially started at 500mg once a > day, then moved to 500mg twice a day for one month, and now 500mg once > a day for thenext 2 months.
