Guest guest
Hi EveryOne, Certainly agree with the holistic approach and trying iodine, herbs, supplements, minerals etc. to deal with any health issue. Giving the body every chance to heal itself. If it can, it will. However, it that doesn't work then sometimes it is better to use a replacement hormone that do without it. This is especially true of natural dessicated thyroid hormone such as Armour. Every cell in the body including the brain depends on an adequate supply of thyroid hormone. When that is not there serious problems develop because of the lack of the proper amount of thyroid hormone. Problems such as heart disease, Cancer etc. Some thyroid problems are genetic, many are caused by the pollution in our environment as well. Lack of sufficient Iodine is also a problem in many places in the world. When you get blood tests for thyroid it is most helpful to know not only the TSH but also the Free T4 and Free T3 and Thyroid Antibodies. Most doctors only test the TSH but that is a pituitary hormone and does not always reflect the amount of thyroid hormone getting to the cells. You can also get your own saliva testing done at http://www.canaryclub.org It is very inexpensive and covers a full spectrum of hormones in addition to thyroid hormones. There are some excellent websites set up to help people find their way with thyroid and adrenal issues. Please see my own site http://users.bestweb.net/~om/thyroid/ for links to many of the others. If you have thyroid and or adrenal issues you need to educate yourself in order to get the care you need.
