Guest guest
Friends, We had a similar problem when we began teaching attributes (eg " red square " , yellow diamond " ). What worked for us was to make sure Kenny did not BEGIN to answer before we had finished the SD. By that I mean that he could not move a MUSCLE. We actually would put our hand on his arm, and if we felt him tensing to move, we knew he had already decided what to pick before he had all the information. Our response was " WAIT " . Then we would give the SD again. This is perhaps unconventional (our consultant told us to just say " no " ) but it REALLY worked. We find that this " early response initiation " is really at the core of the problem in all programs where he has trouble. BTW, if we had to say WAIT 5 (or 10!) times before he was able to do so, we still kept giving the same SD over and over again. It didn't take too long for him to catch on, but we still have to be vigilant about it. (Cary, NC) cindy.p@...
