Dear Spencer,

I am just a mom, but wanted to comment about your problems with the

prepostions. It sounds like your child doesn't really understand

prepositions.....which we did with our son one at a time in a traditional Lovaas

program...and then he generalized them....and now knows them well. I wonder if

you could in that case, once you find where the object really is....you could

place it back where it was and script him totally on what he should have said.

Chances are he would pay attention to you since he probably still wants the

object. Say " Get me my car under the bed! " Get him to repeat you. And do

something else then prompt him totally with a different object...same

preposition.... This type of total scripting works so well with our son....we

use a real normal tone of voice so that he can imitate that as well.

Truly
