is right! And perhaps wrong. If you only place belief in

what has been scientifically documented by the A.M.A. or other U.S.

scientific research. The results I found state that Milk Thistle has

been clinically tested many times for efficacy in treating HCV and

many other forms of liver disease. The results are summarized here:

http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/epcsums/milktsum.htm

I believe this is an unbiased compilation of all scientific data

available at the time that fit the criteria for this study. (2000)

It does however omit entirely all of the history of this herb. Used

in Europe for some 2000 years to treat all manner of liver and

biliary problems, in China for more than 5000 years to treat the

liver, and as a cleansing herb, and even known by the Native

American Indians for its ability to draw out toxins and heal the

organs.

I am not alone in doubting what ¡°science¡± says. It seems that the

National Cancer Institute is ignoring the ¡°inconclusive¡± results of

the studies. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/milkthistle

Very interesting reading, especially if you know someone with

cancer.

All of this should leave you asking yourself, ¡°Why should I believe

in the healing power of herbs? Science hasn¡¯t proved it.¡± I think

a better line of questions begins this. ¡°Is there anything else you

believe in, that science hasn¡¯t yet proven.¡± Has the existence of

intuition been ¡°proved¡±? Have they ¡°proven¡± that going to bed

early, and getting up early is good for you? Giving is better than

receiving? God?

There are many things that are difficult to prove, but are believed

by many. I think Milk Thistle¡¯s curative powers fall into this

category.

The defense rests¡

Eat well, sleep well, be well!
