Guest guest
My knowlege base is adding zinc is good, copper isn't. They get enough copper from pipes if you ask me. I don't know Kinghardt and I don't know how adding copper could help when these kids already have too much copper. It's hard to look at your diet. It hurts me to read it. It might help to get an OATs test and see what fungus and bacteria levels you have there... that might help to keep you motivated to stick with it. It looks like you're having a tough time with what I'm saying about diet and you're not the first and won't be the last. What to eat is SCD minus IGG Food allergies IMO. That's the best place to start. BTVC has pages and pages of recepes. My starter diet has a bunch of foods and my son was on that for about a year... but I know my diet philosphies aren't for everyone. My Starter Diet Any Meats Any Green Veggies Pear, peeled apple, small amounts of melon Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Only (no spring water or tap) Organic food preferred If your child has to have juice, then juice yourself some pear and apple and add some spinach... water it down a bit if you need to, then put it in a sippie cut for the kids that don't like the color. And feed, feed, feed your kids every chance you can. If you see head banging it could be from fungal die off, that was even mentioned today I think. I would use activated charcoal in the morning and if you really really really are having a hard time and you have a really friendly doctor I've heard people with head banging using low dose prednesone during die off for the first two weeks... maybe 5mg per day and then get off of it right after. - Stan > > > > > > > > > > > > can somebody tell me any studies done on nasal MB12 or how you > > > > know it works for > > > > > you. Guest guest
Hey Stan Thanks-he does get sinc and all that, but a major problem is he's not my child, but my grandson and he'd have to move in withme----to do the diet which i don't mind ifmy daughter would approve since she's not into any of this.....and i know what you are saying and couldn't agree more. Haven't done as much as we shold hve in the last few years due to the cost. i do what I can..... thanks I appreciate your responses-MaurineStan Kurtz <kurtzstan@...> wrote: The more you feed with the bad foods, the worse your child will become IMO. Kill off some of that fungus, give some zinc, stop feeding with starches, grains, and complex carbohydrates, and remove the IGG Food Allergies and your kids will quite often gain weight and get better. Guest guest
Oops, I guess I forgot to say that I'm using goat milk to make the kefir. I thought that goat milk was okay because so many people on the SCD group (pecanbread) use goat milk to make the yogurt that is in Elaine's book.... as I understood, the casein in the goat milk is much smaller than that of cow milk. Anyway, I'm more confused now then ever.... Re: signs of viral kids?/diet Hi Sheryl,There is certainly evidence that pateurizing and homogenizing makes milk worse for you. I equte it to frying food. But, why are we still talking about drinking cows milk anyway?I ask people all the time, "What are you trying to accomplish?" The answers are usually about Calcium and Vitamin D, and they can be found in much safer ways through other foods and dietary supplementation.Under a microscope, casien is a very complex, and often undigestible molecule.. there's no way around it --and undigsted food is fuel for bacterial and fungus in the intestines. Milk also very very commonly leaks out of the intestines if they are impaired (like with our kids). Just about every IGG Food Allergy Panel I have ever seen shows milk leaking. There is multiple times more (I think 10 times possibly more) casien in cows milk than human milk. Plus, all the hormones form the feed and the immune programming... I personally don't want the immune system of a cow whose intestines are much longer than ours and their immune system is drastically different. Lastly, Harvard did a study on children in third world countries who never drink milk and compared their bone density with kids in the US and found they were practically identical. I'm not saying our kids don't need calcium, but maybe it's not as critical every day as we think it is.Ok, one really last thought. If you could get calcium from rat poison... would you feed it to your child? Probably not, but cows milk is poison for most of our kids... and yet it goes on every day.If you add to that that we are the only mamal that drinks another mamals milk on the planet, and that milk is a cheap multi-billion dollar industry... it's clear, at least to me, why the push to drink another animals milk exists.I have a nice two page review of the medical literature that supports milk as being a persistant problem for human health. It's called "Not Milk" and it's in the Files section of this group.Basically, I wouldn't go running out and buying a cow as a family pet at this point. Just supplement the body in healthy natural ways. - Stan> > > > > >> > > > > > can somebody tell me any studies done on nasal MB12 or how you > > > > know it works for > > > > > you. Guest guest
Using goat milk in making yogurt is different than using straight milk. You ferment the goats milk first, which helps to break it down. I never used the goats milk for yogart because... well, I'm a guy and I don't have that type of cooking patience... and I was a bit concerned about it really... but many families really believe in it. Either way, why use milk? What are you trying to do with it? You can't use it for cerial and you don't need it for calcium and vitamin D which you can get in many other things... like nut milk... Oh, the kefir... well, I'm not an expert on that. My first feeling is to just use probiotics and get any milk products out of there to start. Once you get through some die off and feel you have things under better control you can play around a bit. If I remember correctly, the yogart is not part of the SCD starter diet either, so I would really hold off on this. I find the best way to get the diet started is going strict in the beginning. I see a lot of people play around too much at the beginning and waste time purely because they are afriad to jump in. We do have some SCD experts on this list who may start chiming in at some point as well. - Stan > > > > > > > > > > > > > > can somebody tell me any studies done on nasal MB12 or how you > > > > > know it works for > > > > > > you. Guest guest
Thanks for the input. I do feel scd is right for my kiddo. I just wish I knew he could tolerate the high protein. I guess with my guy - being as sensory defensive and picky as he is- better not to give fried chicken nuggets(homemade /organic of course) until maybe a few weeks go by and he's eating other things. I think that may have been a problem the first scd go around. He found 2 things he liked- egg /squash pancakes and nuggets. He ate those and that's it. Maybe best to offer apples AND PEARS.....but other than that only "novel" foods. labs: We did just send off 3 labs today. Doctors data Urine Essential/metals and urine Amino Acids and Great Smokies metabolic analysis. I am very interested in seeing the results. Thanks again. I keep hearing bits and pieces.
