Guest guest
Sorry Tami, that you didn't get this response more quickly. Geno 1 is reguarded as the most difficult to treat, but it can be treated successfully in many diffent ways. There ARE successful treatments besides Interferon cocktails. The biopsy is considered the most accurate accessment of damage or lack there of, however there are also other tests used to make this determination. He almost certainly had a Viral Load test done. It is usually reported seperately from the other bloodwork, and would display a number something like this " 5 x 10^3 " . You may also find the acronym " RNA " on this test. Please find this test if you can and let us know the results. As for your Dr's comment about there being pills in five years. Maybe. But if the pills are still Interferon, I don't see how they can avoid the side effects. If you don't want to wait, or don't feel you have the time, you might volunteer as a test subject in clinical trials. There are clinical trials for drugs that are not interferon or interferon dependant. I'm not the most knowledgable poster to this group. Most of my posts reflect the distaste I have for interferon. It's not that I don't like interferon, the body produces a nontoxic form. I just don't like the interferon created in some drug giant's lab. As for your fears, let them go. They will not help you in this, and your husband will worry that you worry too much, which is bad for him. The best thing you can do is be possitive, learn all you can, and let him know you will be with him through it all. I'm hoping this helps, Chris > > Hi all...its been awhile since I posted, I just wanted to ask you all for prayers and advice. > my hubby was just diagnosed with hep c...he is Geno type 1 and next Tuesday he goes in to get a liver biopsy. > is that what determines any liver damage??? is type 1 the worse level?? they didnt tell him what his viral load is....Im scared he is only 40 years old and has been clean from drugs for 18 years,,,,he is sure that he got it back when he was using drugs but it just didnt show up till now...I will let you all know what we find out as soon as we know....the dr did tell him that in about 4 or 5 years their will be pills that you can take with out the side affects of interferon. so if he is healthy enough he will be able to wait,...if not we dont know what will happen....write me back if you can help me with these fears....the dr did say that it is good that he hasnt drank or used drugs for 18 years cuz in some cases it causes cirossis of the liver.....thanks all, Tami > > > > > Check me out! > > --------------------------------- > > What are the most popular cars?
