Hmmm, I ordered one of my scobys from that place, too. They sent the culture

with green tea. The first two brews tasted exactly like SOAP. Bleah! I

couldn't drink it. I didn't tell my husband that I didn't like it, though.

Instead, I flavored it with lemon zinger tea and he liked it. Go figure. It

still tastes soapy to me.

I switched to my own tea and the kombucha tastes fine, just like my other

scoby brew whose culture was given to me by my neighbor. I can't figure out

what made it soapy tasting unless it is the green tea.

As for the sugar, I prefer the taste of the kombucha when I use dehydrated

cane juice vs. white sugar. It's just so expensive! Also I really love the

fizz I get from adding a slice of ginger root to the second ferment. Black

berries gave me some fizz, too, but the ginger really rocks!
