Guest guest
Hi Jill - my tumor was on my left side, and before it was removed my low-K muscle problems were all on the left. My left trapezius froze and pressed on a nerve, which caused numbness, tingling, and inability to move my left hand at times. Hasn't happened a single time since the surgery, and interestingly, any random pain that I have now (usually back pain from stress or sitting too long) tends to show up on the *right* side. As for abdominal pain - the left side abdo pain is an interesting thing too. I've had this all my life, but I've got gastrointestinal issues due to a long history of untreated food intolerances (once-undiagnosed celiac who poisoned myself with " healthy whole grains " for years!). This left abdominal " burning " pain (or for me, sometimes more of a stabbing pain) seems to be pretty common among folks with celiac or other malabsorption issues, but none of the doctors I've talked to can really explain why. There really isn't anything on the left side to cause that pain - the liver, etc. are all on the right, if I'm remembering correctly. -msmith1928 Left laparoscopic adrenalectomy 10/13/11 > > I have been reading thru my health history notes, and a few things stood out to me. Details are below, but the summary is that I had left side abdominal pain, tingling and numbness in my left arm and leg and headaches. (see below) > > Just curious if anyone else has experienced these things. I find it interesting that it was all left side oriented, and that is where my adrenal adenoma is located. > > > Dec 2010: > Persistent left side abdominal low grade pain, with occasional heartburn like burning in that area (not heartburn, but that same reflux like burning, almost like some tube in that area is drawing up a liquid). > > From around 2008- I had left side tingling. > Feb-March 2009 > Numbness and tingling, mainly in left arm, shoulder to fingertips but concentrated in shoulder area. Some also in left leg (periodically). Not as bad or as persistent as last spring, but still present. Seem to be able to " walk " the leg numbness out while walking 2 miles for exercise. I experienced noticeable pressure in my right eye during sleep around Nov/Dec. It felt as though the eye was very large in the socket and pressing against the eyelid. Not painful, but noticeable. Noticed my vision was fuzzy/blurry, like I had mucus in my eye. Eye doctor visit in January indicated significant changes in the astigmatism, resulting in a dramatic change to my contact lens prescription (-6.5 to 4.75 with a big swing in the astigmatic correction). New contact lenses have resulted in great vision again. > > Trying to be as descriptive as possible for future comparisons of symptoms. I feel as though a good massage of the left shoulder/arm would improve circulation and ease the numbness, I have this thought often, but in reality rubbing it doesn't seem to make much difference. As above, same headache cycle/pattern continues with hormones. > > August 2009 > > Beginning on 8/3 in the center of my left palm, my left arm is numb/tight, centered primarily in my left bicep and shoulder area. Remainder of the body is fine. MRI of the cervical spine with and without contrast in July 2009 showed nothing but minor arthritis in the neck. > > > > > Jill > > 2 cm left adrenal adenoma, CT scan diagnosed July 2012 > Aldosterone level 32.7 (top level normal 30.0) > BP avg 150/100 > Low Potassium for 2+ years >
Guest guest
Jill, You explained my symptoms to a "T" except mine is on the right side! (Well, I guess you left out right testical pain! ) The pain is bad enough and constant so they have me back on oxycodone. I should mention that the pain and all symptoms went away in April 2011 when spironolactone was finally working correctly. It returned about a month after I discontinued the spiro. I've been on Eplerenone for 3 months and it hasn't resolved yet but I'm still holding out hope - it took 10 months with Spironolactone. The tingling and numbness reminded me ot the TIA I had in 2002. I did go in for a check and everything was negative. I recently had a surgeon express doubt that it was all related. I left no doubt that I thought he was full of crap! I swear I am going to get a headband with S-T-U-P-I-D printed on it and then we can decide if the doctor or I should wear it! >> I have been reading thru my health history notes, and a few things stood out to me.
