Guest guest
Spiro was the first thing to get my pressure down in 11/2010 after years and years of 180/140 almost daily - 160 /120 WAS daily, and that's what I was - 180/140 in the cardios office the day he started spiro as the cardio took it himself over and over that day on that day in 11/2010 when the cardio started the spiro on a hunch he had (first time I had seen him). BP was down in 2 doses for the first normal one. I was also on 5 meds that day - lisinopril, hydrazaline, metop, clonidine, and ........I cant remember at the moment which was #5 - verapamil maybe? Have a blank for some reason. 50mg that day, then a week laterish 25, then 12.5 as I got more serious about DASH. Then I hadn't needed it, got sick took it for a few, then nothing again.I was getting too low at times on m BP but if I ust keep the Na down. I hadn't taken spiro for a couple of months, then got a little sick and my pressure jumped up (which is odd as I ate alot less) so I took it for about a week a few weeks back again and now haven't for a couple of weeks again. I try to exercise every day -even if that means push ups, some weight lifting, and I always do jumping jacks, jump rope, or shadow box, etc in between sets of the other things. I drive 2 hours each way 4 days a week when teaching so I can't always squeeze it in like I want, but when I get home around 10 I always exercise some. I have never been too good about a high K diet - low sodium yes, high K no. I don't like the V8's but I do alot of OJ and as much fruits and veggies, but they get a litle expensive sometimes and so they get short in the house between paydays (7 kids!). So I take the OTC potassium gluconate from Wal MART about 2 of them am 2 of them pm. Guest guest
Need to look at the cost of your potassium gluconate per mM of K. Suspect you will find it better to hold you nose and down a cup of low-sodium V-8. At least worth a try. 1 cup or low Na spicy has 1,000 mg K. Or maybe add the V-8 to something you are cooking?CE Grim MDOn Jul 18, 2012, at 4:41 PM, Bingham wrote: Spiro was the first thing to get my pressure down in 11/2010 after years and years of 180/140 almost daily - 160 /120 WAS daily, and that's what I was - 180/140 in the cardios office the day he started spiro as the cardio took it himself over and over that day on that day in 11/2010 when the cardio started the spiro on a hunch he had (first time I had seen him). Guest guest
When I was a meat eater, I would add V-8 to my meatballs (along w/ some sausage) and they were delicious. They I tried V-8 in my meat filling for the cabbage rolls. Recently, as a vegan, I put V-8 into my soups (lentil, bean or cabbage).Mmm Mmm good. Since I am now trying to stay as close to no sodium as I can, I just use tomato sauce. I'm going to work on my own version of V8 but with no salt. This new diet is a fun challenge.
