Guest guest
Hi friends and colleagues,For a feature I’m doing for the national LGBT newsmagazine The Advocate (advocate.com) on living with HIV today, I need to find ASAP three HIV-positive gay/bi men with different scenarios:1. A guy under 30, recently diagnosed, who takes a simple HIV-meds regimen but is dealing with non-medical issues like disclosing to dates, friends, family, how HIV affects his self-image, etc.2. A guy who is juggling HIV with other complications such as hepatitis C, diabetes/high blood pressure, substance addiction/recovery, socioeconomic issues, depression, the impact of race, etc. Someone for whom HIV is mixed up with a lot of other complicating factors and maybe their HIV isn't managed so well because of it.3. A guy who’s likely lived with HIV for a long time who’s developed resistance to much of the standard drugs and has a complicated meds regimen consisting of brand-new HIV meds. A real longtime survivor.I’m looking for guys who are okay putting their full names and faces out there, and ideally one black guy, one white guy and one Latino/Asian/other guy. I’d like to find guys in three different cities. Also, one of these three folks could be male-to-female (MTF) transgender. Most of all, I need to find these folks ASAP, so if you’re interested or if you know someone who is, please forward this along. The Advocate has a broad reach and just had a terrific redesign, so I think this will be a very special piece. And of course if there’s anything else going on you think might be a good story for New York magazine, the New York Times, the Advocate, or Poz, the national AIDS magazine (poz.com)—the four main places I write for—please let me know!A happy and well holiday season to all.Xo Tim Be a better sports nut!
