Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Although this is my first post, I joined several months ago and read the posts almost every day. This has helped remind me what I'm dealing with and that I'm not alone. My 11 year old son was diagnosed with OCD in October last year. Looking back I can see symtoms, like handwashing, rewriting, & doubting probably starting around 5 or earlier. Then last year he started having to touch things and walk through rooms or get into bed in a certain way. He would also look up over his shoulder frequently. Bedtime was the worst because if he didn't get into bed right, he would be up most of the night redoing it. We brought him to a therapist. She didn't specialize in OCD but did seem to understand it and tried talk therapy. We also brought him to a Psy and he is on 50mg Zoloft. The Zoloft has helped and he has alot less crying and anxiety, but his O's and C's have changed. Also, as I leaned more about OCD, I brought him to a new Psychologist that said he could help with OCD and could use CBT and ERP. But after almost 2 months he has only tried it once. The Dr. thinks there are issues with my husband that need to be addressed first. I dissagree and told the Dr. so. I cancelled our last appt. becasue we had been sick and am trying to decide whether to bring him back. The Psy had us up Zoloft to 100 but ds had alot of trouble settling down at night and we're back to 50. May try to go up more slowly. I can't tell if the new behaviors that are coming out are OCD or something else. He picks at scabs when he gets anxious and harrasses his 4 yr old brother. He tries to get me to chase him and says he wants to get in trouble. He'll go on the computer when he's not supposed to and say he's going to run away. The 4 year old is showing signs of OCD and I have an 8 year old son also who seems anxiety prone. Sorry this is so long, but any feedback would be apprieciated.
