I'm glad that the spasms are decreasing, but I hope

that you can get back to your 100% self again soon.

Take care of yourself and so you can get back to your

100% self. Your job and health are more important

right now.

Look at how far you have come!! You are starting to workout again! That is

awesome!! Don't worry about the 8 pounds. They'll come off! Right now you

need to focus on recovering. Don't worry about the weight. I'll keep you in

my prayers! Stay strong! Remember, this is a test and you can pass it!!

Great post, Elena! My thoughts are with you. I will tell you a little

secret... you are ALREADY a different and wiser person. You have dealt with

this in a way that makes me very proud. Everyday I learn and appreciate the

Hang in there! I know how tough and difficult this is for you and

how frustrating it is not to be as active as you once were! But,

like you said...you have to remain positive and focus on what you CAN

do...not on what you can't! You WILL get through this and although

you can't see it right now...you will come out better for it. You

will learn things about yourself that will make you stronger and you

will come to understand things about yourself that you didn't even

know you had to figure out :) I know that doesn't make your pain any

easier at the moment, but please know that you will get through

this. I will keep you in my thoughts and pray that you will find the

strength and courage to remain positive! Try not to focus on your

weight (easier said than done, I know) but just try to focus on your

health right now! Focus on the baby steps you are taking to get you

healthy and strong again. I have no doubt that you will fight this

with everything you have and that you WILL do Tae Bo again someday :)

I just got this book 'Until Today' by Iyanla Vanzant and it is a book

of spiritual daily devotions for every day of the year. I just read

it a few minutes ago and then read your message and thought it might

help you. It's about how the pain that we go through is actually a

gift because it teaches us things about ourselves that we need to

learn in order to be a more complete person. Anyway, I just wanted

to share it with you :)

The greatest service I can offer is.....being willing to live through

the pain I experience.

There are several ways to commit suicide. Some people actually do

something to end their lives. Others take pieces of their lives and

pieces of themselves and tuck them away. They live only a part of a

life, with only a part of themselves, allowing the other parts to die

off. Still others live in a state of numbness. They shield and

protect themselves from feeling anything, believing that they can

avoid the onslaught of pain. All of these people are the walking

dead! They try their best to act alive. They are not alive because

they have yet to discover the blessings of pain.

To experience mental or emotional pain is actually a gift of life.

At the core of your pain is an answer, possibly the very answer you

have been seeking. We mistakenly believe that the path to a good

life or a better life is to eliminate pain. Suicide is not the way

out of pain! In fact, the most loving, alive and self-supporting

thing we can do is to embrace our pain. Often this requires a skill

we have not been taught. It requires that we remain present in the

midst of a painful experience.

All forms of pain come to teach you. To strengthen you. To reveal

some deeper understanding of your true identity. Moving through

pain, you may find your true purpose. Often pain comes into your

life to wake up the parts and pieces of you that are numb. Those

parts that are fearfully dead. Doubtfully immobilized. You begin to

pick up pieces and parts that you have tucked away. Staying present

in the pain can often remind you that you really do want to live in a

more loving, more honest, more fulfilling way. What a gift! What a

blessing!

Until today, you may not have been aware of the benefits of painful

experiences. Just for today, open your heart to be present in your

own pain. When it seems as if the pain or the memory of the pain is

more than you can handle, ask for it to present you with its gift.

Today I am devoted to remaining fully present and alive to my every

thought and feeling!

Elena,

I'm so happy for you that you've broken the

pain/spasm cycle. I understand how difficult it must

be to have gained 8 pounds and not be able to exercise

like you want, but you must focus on what you have,

not what you don't. A short time ago you were laying

flat on your back in a lot of pain not being able to

exercise or work at all. Now you are able to exercise

and start working again. I know slow progress is very

frustrating, but when you get depressed, remind

yourself that progress is progress. I know you'll

work those 8 pounds off slow but surely.

I've been keeping you in my thoughts and exercising

with you in spirit about 5 times a week. Last night

we did a chest/back weight workout and the night

before we did BL7. So in essense you are doing your

tae-bo, just vicariously through me <g>.

Post when you can. Your advice and encouragement to

the group are a big part of what makes this group

great. Keep up that slow, steady progress!

Thanks, Kerri! I really needed the work in the chest area, LOL! Really,

thank you, everybody for all your beautiful posts. I must have been

depressed yesterday to state that I would post less. Posting less would be

a big mistake since you all are so supportive!

, I love the inspirational writing you shared (how do you tolerate

all that typing, LOL)! You are right - I will be a different, wiser person

after I emerge from this " incident. " My hope is to decrease my obsession

with my " looks " and to decrease the guilt I feel when I can't do something

(ex. help in the kitchen or workout with ). I would love one day to be

at peace with myself when/if I have to sit out a workout and watch and enjoy

everyone else workout, just as , AmyN, and others have done so

beautifully. Lots of things to work on!

I'm so sorry that you are not back to your " normal " state, pain

wise. I find that you have had some wonderful posts, and I don't

even know what to add. I just want you to know that I think about

you often, and I just know that you will grow through this whole

experience. I think it's absolutely great that you are looking at

goals to achieve, that will let you focus. I also understand how we

can get caught up in focusing on our own " looks " AND I understand

that guilt feeling. You know, I never fully recuperated from my

episode last year: I still have days where my joints hurt,

especially humid days... and I've learned to listen to my body...

you will too! You will come to appreciate what you can do and forget

about what you cannot do.

I wish you everything but the best... and I do understand that you

want to keep your sitting time for really important stuff.

Personally, I find that working at the computer is not too good for

my back because of poor posture (let's face it, working in front of a

computer screen is ANTI-ergonomic).

exercise! BUT, I remember our (and mine) advice to take " baby steps "

and to find happiness and pride with any accomplishment and/or

exercise. Ten-fifteen min. is better than zero exercise! I may

never be able to taebo again, but at least I can exercise (some

people cannot)!

stage (acute pain cycle) and now am facing the SLOW rehabilitation

cycle (because I am so deconditioned from lying on my back

recuperating), Of course, I want the 8 pounds gone NOW! Please

keep me in your thoughts (and prayers if you are religious).

my " sitting up " time for work-related activities (since I haven't

worked more than 20 hours per work since the beginning of Sept.).

Still, I am here with you, always.

You are welcome :) I'm glad that the message helped you! It was a

pretty powerful message and I got a lot out of it after reading it

this morning! I highly recommend the book...it's called 'Until

Today' by Iyanla Vanzant and it is different thoughts every day!

Every single message I have read this past week has helped me

tremendously!
